  1. Fairlady is just the name they gave the 300zx in Japan. Difference can be found here. They are identical except minor details mainly : http://www.300zx.org.uk/mod_comp_1.htm http://www.zcentre.co.uk sell MPH/KPH convertors, and they can also be found on ebay. Alternatively you can try contacting AndyZ or RiceRocket (see traders section) for a UK Speedo console.

if considering a Rover Turbo, why not Twin Turbo 300zx ? The Rover and zed are like chalk and cheese. One is a cheap Sports coupe, the other is the Original Japenese supercar. Somebody posted about getting an average 29mpg on a modified TT during long journey last week. The NA would be marginally better. Although in reality expect low-mid 20's on average.
  4. Zed drifting. http://www.sportzmagazine.com/Z_Downloads.htm :hyper: I downloaded part 3.
  5. May have been me, did it have Alloys, Exhaust and a front bumper ?

    Posted a couple of days ago bud. No idea on MPG though (its not something a zed owners really wants to think about ;)) NA 222 bhp 198 Ib/ft 0-60 : 7.0 secs 0-100 : 18.6 secs Top speed : 140 mph TT (Euro and Japan) 280 bhp - 300bhp 283 Ib/ft 0-60 : 5.5 secs 0-100 : 14.5 secs Top speed : 170 mph + (Uk restricted to 155mph and Jap to 112mph)
  7. but at least you've seen them....and if that makes the difference between an accident or no accident....
  8. nope, nothing like Chris's car, at all.
  9. Thats correct, it compensates for more on the less efficient colours.
  10. :smash: :smash: Yep, Tesco Petrol stations (but not at all of them yet)
  11. Depends on wether that match the paint by just going of the Paint code or by matching it correctly. I had my Tailgate resprayed recently, and took in my Petrol filler cap to the Paint supply shop to get the correct colour and its a perfect match.
  12. Yep thats the TomTom Go (as i recomended above). If you want a simple, all in-one solution thats ideal.
  13. When it comes down to it, would you rather have a chip of unknown specification thats probabably mapped for Higher octane fuels, and who knows that the Timing map is like on it or a well known Chip thats proven for its performance and safety. And when there so cheap, why take any risk.
  14. ...before fitting it to the car
  15. Tomtom GO, is a nice portable all in one option. Alternative Smarphone with GPS or external GPS receiver, or a PDA/Pocket PC with bluetooth GPS receiver and TomTom Software.
  16. Crikey Si, you were'nt kidding when you said you were bored at work
  17. What alarm do you have ? Any good Alarm electrician should be able to program/rewire the alarm to work with a Turbo timer. The alternative is to get a new alarm with Turbo timer functionality built in (high end cliffords offer this, for example)
  18. I wear a new pair of socks everyday, and lose one everytime they get washed :headvswal:
  19. Yep, as are the JWT's, Mines..etc, but in reality they are stock ecu with the fuel/timing/safety maps chip replaced, as the rest of the ECU deals with whole loads of other stuff on the car as well that the Impul chip wont deal with.
  20. I dont know about the Impul in particular, but usually the ECU has been socketed(old chip removed, socket fitted so chip can be removed and replaced as needed) and the Impul chip has replaced the stock chip on the ECU. It should just be a case of swapping the Impul chip with new chip. Send John Dixon a PM, he should be able to advise.
  21. As Karlos says, even if you dont "intend" ;) to use the power much, its still worth going for a chip that you know is mapped for Uk fuel and safety. Its not just just the Fuelling maps that can be the problem, its the Timing settings. Often the Jap spec aftermarket chips setup for higher octane fuel will also have the timing increased too much across the range, and you risk detonation even when your not being heavy handed with it. ...and for less than £100 for something like a JWT chip its a worthwhile swap. oh..and buy a Aftermarket Boost gauge asap if its had a boost increase.
  22. Spent time on any forum and all you hear is horror stories, on any car. They are tough and they are over engineered but they are often abused. its Japanese(top 8 most reliable manufacturers in the world are all japenese) and its built to handle far more power than it puts out as standard, and waaaaay more power than any everyday car could handle, but it demands proper maintenance ! If your 60k service is due, then do everything that is required (not just the cambelt).
  23. Ouch ! nasty. Were they trying to beat that record that the Zed currently holds for 262mph (without taking off;))
  24. Hi Mate, sorry to hear about your problems. I dont know the Reading Nissan garage, but bear in mind that only a few Nissan dealers were ever trained on the 300zx (and its more than likely that the mechanics that were trained no longer work there). They spend all day long replacing Windscreen wipers on Nissan Micra's.* If you can get it to Ztech, thats what you should do. Give Ryan @ ztech a ring, he may be able to assist with a Recovery vehicle to get it there. * there are some Nissan Dealers in the Country that can be trusted with the 300zx.
