  1. i have owned my swb zed for 3 months and i am still getting to know it, i had a mx5 and you have a mr2, the zeds are different animals to these by far, they are a proper motor vehicle. you will find all sorts of info from threads on this site but you will get what you pay for and of course the running costs are high, if you want cheap costs by yourself a corsa, lol!!!! as i drive about there is nothing 99.9% of the time to touch a zx. i dont regret buying mine for a minute. get one have a bit of fun!!!!!!!
  2. if thats the case, 450g, then it must be royal mail recorded, thought it might weigh a bit more than that, some packing material on top of that dont forget.
  3. you can buy postage online at royal mail and so you can enter what weight you want!!!! for instance i pay and print off £7.06 and this is for up to 4kgs, i attach to the box and just take it direct to my sorting office, which by passes the post office, where they just put it on the outgoing pile and i have done this quite regularly. even though the box weighs that bit more at 5.5kgs!!! but with this method there is no tracking and takes 3 working days. £8.10 is not too bad for the dhl method i mention earlier, you can then add as much packing material as you wish as you will get no where near the 30kgs limit.
  4. its only £8.10 with this very reliable dhl agent https://secure.justapplications.co.uk/payperparcel/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fpayperparcel%2fMyAccount.aspx weight is up to 30kg so not a problem there, signed for, tracked and generally next day, a no brainer if you ask me. i use them almost every day.
  5. blimey!!!!!!!!!! told you recommendations are no good!!! methinks you are younger than me  keep searching!!!
  6. whats good for one is not good for another i know but i am with http://www.performancedirect.co.uk/ you may wish to give them a go. you need to limit your mileage to less than 5000 per annum for a start.
  7. I'm looking for a manual NA model. I cannot afford to maintain a twin turbo model, but finding them seems to be quite difficult. The other problem I have is insurance. I've been using comparison websites, and I can't seem to get them to recognise the car registration plates. I'm wondering if most of them have had their plates changed at some point? If I don't use the registration plate look up and put it in manually, there is no option for a NA model. According to the websites, the only models that exist are a Turbo and Turbo-Auto. So finding a reliable quote is not possible at the moment. Another one of my concerns is the issue with imported models. A lot of people that I have seen selling a "300zx", are actually selling the Fairlady model from Japan. I'm worried that people might be selling them as a "300zx" so they can get cheaper insurance on them. I don't want to buy one, provide the insurance company with false information, have my insurance voided, and then be done for insurance fraud.:( Furthermore, it seems that everyone who is selling their 300zx/Fairlady, has stuck body kits on and messed about under the hood. I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I would like something completely unmodified. as far as i can see this matches your criterea, being n/a, manual and standard. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280457397877&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT should go for no more than 3k. regarding your insurance, if you get tt insurance as a guide, then work back as non turbo cannot possibly be more. i am cough cough 42  and my restricted mileage policy is fully comp at less than £300.
  8. dhl allow 31.5kg normally for the £8.10, on the website i linked there may be a overweight or oversize surcharge facility to go for. would not like to say in kg what a tailgate weighs? if you ask me, you are asking for trouble in shipping such an item. get a van and get up there!!!!
  9. these are an agent and use dhl which is more often than not 24hour service, even though a 48hour is booked. it is £8.10 with the vat so very reasonable indeed. :detective: https://secure.justapplications.co.uk/payperparcel/Default.aspx :hammer: they are very reliable, i use them up to 10 times a week for parcels, some quite large boxes. it is all stuff thats unbreakable though. :cool2: you will need to get the tailgate very well packed as you would imagine the dhl staff do not understand 'fragile' tape!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its just the risk you take. :hurl:
  10. seeing as my original packed up and i never liked the sound of it anyway, i spent £6.95 at the local car shop and bought the above mentioned 'ring' horns. :hyper: i think i have done quite well with the fit, nice and tidy and a great location. the sound suits the car very well and i am very pleased. :headvswal dont know the decibels of them but i will guess at 120db. :nana2: did look at those musical horns but it is not 'General Lee'!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. you enjoy my friend, i have been 3 or four times to the sin city. a plane ride or a rental car drive up to the hoover dam is a must. last visit we used a chrysler 300. we stopped at the mgm signature towers last time, lennox lewis was in the lobby and i did not shake his hand, a big regret!!! :sweatdrop:
  12. went to san francisco a couple of years ago and enjoyed it, stopped at the palace hotel. some advice book for the alcatraz trip even before you go as when we were there we went to book at the pier cabin and we did for four days later!!!!!!!! which was the day before we came home, we were lucky really, we saw many want that same day trip but they just get turned away, so book it!!! also take a streetcar (tram really, like at blackpool), not much money, and go up to Fisherman's Wharf, and have a look round and then get the cable car (the ones that run on a cable underground and goes up and down the hills) back to union square. if you do it the other way round they queue for ever at union square for the same journey to fishermans wharf, its bizarre!!!! enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :clown:
  13. i like them cos they are similar to mine!!!! my rears are deeper dish though and 17,s. andy.
  14. as our main family car is a merc c200k evo panoramic sport pack thing 51 plate so getting on a bit now but still a nice drive in black, my wife collared this. :tt2: mazda mx5 which was bought for her and i ended up with all those years ago, it is a 1991 and this was my daily. i put on this 16 inch sport wheels and had it lowered, generally played about with it and it was and still is a great deal of fun. this car as now been passed on to my son for free!!! :online2long: my daughter, although again its my car drives a saxo 1.2 desire in silver complete with some pink daisy stickers, this is a 02 plate the newest would you believe of all four cars in our household!!! :sneaky2: as i own a 1994 zed and this gets me to work every day. :pinch: i to have a peugeot boxer van 2001 year and this lives at my place of work. :phone: so thats five vehicles!!!!!!!! lol !!!!
  15. just another update to this thread. my new thermostat is now fitted, the old taken out one was a genuine nissan one and i am 99% certain this was the original, this was clearly visible goosed. having tested it several times before i write, my conclusion is that on my drive home tonight the stock guage needle after only a minute or so is on the move, my stack one does not register until 100f as it starts at 100f but after about 5 mins of running this reaches this 'start' mark. at this point the stock gauge is just below half way, 43 past the hour if you like. this needle now does not move again no matter how long my drive. :hyper: the more accurate stack gauge between 5 and 8 mins of running does continue to climb eventually to 165f which equates to 74 degrees celsius, i believe this to be 'spot on', i do have some special green coolant which keeps the temp down so perhaps this is doing its job and taking 10 or 15f off what would be normal had i just neat water in there. my cabin as a consequence gets nice and warm. :sleep1: thanks for listening and hope this thread helps others.
  16. :boat: just to update this thread and to help others. i have the nissan genuine thermostat part in my hand. it was £31.00 is part number 21200 - 42L01 as an opening rating of 76.5 :death: all indications are that this is the correct one. i will update once this is fitted which will be within a week. :tt2:
  17. A further update to this thread. :slap: to my great surprise for the first time ever, on monday the temp gauges both worked perfectly, after that though, monday eves, tues and weds morning, etc, it did not work correctly. however, today, when it was ffffffffreezing this morning, similar to monday, it worked a treat and the temp rose to 175f in no time at all, i was nice and warm for once. but on my drive home, 2 stops and a, in total journey of 8 miles, it was useless and i was flippin cold as it didnt even reach 100f and the stock gauge never really got any higher than the C, at one stage it even went backwards!!! :duffer: It is so intermittant and seems to work better when the car as been left 14 hours and the night temp as dropped to around minus 10. so roll on tomorrow and lets hope these extreme temps continue!!!!!!!! a genuine nissan thermostat as been ordered and was £31.00, so not too bad. thanks for listening!!!
  18. :innocent: exposure...............what are you talking about, i just press the bloody button!!!!!!!!!!!! :turned::turned: it may look bright but as you well know it is absolutely perfect. i am soooooo pleased. :chef:
  19. blantantly plugging graham's work here.:cool3: here are pics of my blue led conversion, done of course by graham (groover). i have done the glove box one myself by just attaching the two prongs in to make the connection. you cannot see it but the ashtray as been done also, not so bright this one but better than it was before. i have moved down the air bag red bulb/holder which stays lit all the time now as i dont have steering wheel bag and put it so it lights up the greddy bit, a red plastic lens for this in time will make the effect even better. me and graham are going to try and make the 'a' pillar gauges blue also. :gun_bandana:
  20. all info is greatly received, thank you. mine are stack gauges as mentioned, are they considered cheap aftermarket, i just dont know? i never fit them. i will make sure i get the correct thermostat and not be governed with penny pinching!!!! with this fitted, the idea is, it will allow the engine to reach optimum temp, the stack should read 180f or so and stock guage will read somewhere slightly above the middle, and as a bonus my cabin will be much warmer, as currently it is only airing it. i did feel the bonnet and was surprised to feel it was not warm at all!!! not normal? i am wittering on and on with this thread and all i have to do is change stat and then see!!!!!! :balloon:
  21. i bought funkyboogalooo's car about 7 weeks ago and so do not know any history on the shrek coloured stuff!! he is no longer on this site but is still on the other.
  22. thank you my friend, i will locate tomorrow when its light. i am making arrangements to get the correct stat, should make an absolute world of difference methinks. thanks again.
  23. :helpsmilie: thats exactly what i think, been out today and it reaches 99f. apparantly the previous owner tells me this: Its got a coolant conditioner in it that is green. Its ultraviolet to help locate any leaks. It also helps reduce the running temperature by removing all the oxygen from the water. this stuff cannot be reducing the temp as massive as i have!!! where is the thermostat located please? :punk:
  24. graham put a blue light in the ignitiion ring for me only last week and it looks the business. recommend it fully. :tank:
  25. my wife and daughter are right darren, its a damn nice car, the best looking version i have seen. will have to get over and see it in the flesh!!! tell me what have you in there for the front fog lights, they are nnniiiiicccccceeee!!!
