!!!!!!!!Make a wish upon a bone!!!!!
I'd rather have a wishbone fold up than something more serious bend. What I mean is, if the wishbone was stronger something else would have to take the force which might not so easy and convenient to replace! Should be an easy job to fix now you're this far! Simon.

noise progress today.
Hmm, it's hard to tell with the bottom cover still on. When you get that cover off you'll be able to see how much of the piston shaft is protruding. (I hope whoever replaced the tensioner didn't leave the locking bolt in place! That's a small possibility at least)

noise progress today.
A new tensioner may have been fitted, but if the bolts weren't tightened up properly, the piston would have travelled to its fullest extent and then the belt would have got looser and looser :( The fact that your engine is still running however is probably the 'good news', once you've replaced the belt and got a new tensioner you should be back in business... Cheers Simon.

Hydro Demolition...
Never heard of them, but that's not my reason for replying! Just had to say I'm LOVING the sig pic!!

Mechanical aptitude test.....
100%. Seems A-level Design & technology and GCSE Electronics taught me something! (And I honestly only did the quiz once!) I must admit I had to sketch a diagram for the 'fans' question and one of the diagrams showing the levers didn't indicate where the lifting force would be applied but I guessed at the end of the lever, and turned out to be correct. Have a Merry Christmas
Happy..... - Christmas or Winterval (who ever came up with this name needs shooting!) or - Retail holiday (eBay is bound to be full of unwanted gifts by 10am tomorrow) or - ....to everyone! Have a good one! :duffer: :duffer: :smw: Si.

any one remember me ?
Hello stranger! :) Whatever your long story is - I hope you and all are well. Glad you didn't sell the Z! Cheers Si.

Amazing Oil!! +6 Bhp!!!
Not true Andy. Oil has a 'drag' on all moving parts - if this oil is slighty thinner at operating temperature it'll make a difference. Simon. p.s. Comment for Jonlowndes - The standard 'XZ' (and I do mean XZ not ZX) gear oil that Nissan use for the tranny and diff - is very whiffy when new!

Any Software Developers here?
I concur with what Danny said. Very sensible. With regards to who you speak to, well that rather depends on what sort of software it is: - Maybe a web application? - A handheld app? e.g. PDA, symbian phone-software etc - Or, maybe it's a traditional Windows standalone app? Just something to consider

bullyin
That sucks! My only advise at this moment in time, is to try and get this group on video - preferably whilst they're giving your bro a bit of abuse and give it to the Police. Regardless of your feelings towards our wonderful Police force - they are still the best people to deal with this. [Getting slashed however is totally unacceptable!] All the best.... and good luck.

More E-bay numpties!
Mad isn't it!? Some people are either too lazy to look elsewhere, OR just too impatient to look elsewhere. Mind you, I'm guilty of buying a CD user manual (for another car) off of eBay when I could have downloaded the thing for free on t'net! But don't tell anyone because that would make me look a right numpty! :p Simon.

Mitsuoka Orochi - Good looking or ugly?
OOOoooooo not nice - look like something Pixar rejected at an early stage.

Petrol Smell
You'll need to take the battery out to do the lowest of the pipe clips :( One of mine is leaving at the moment but taking the battery out in the cold seems like so much hassle!! (Maybe I'm just a lazy git!)

'lo
alright stranger :) Had missed this thread before, but reading through it now has bought back happy memories. Can you believe it was 6 years ago we would be chatting on MSN in one of Duffer's all-day MSN chatathons with everyone and anyone from on here. :) lol Simon.

800hp check list
That's a nice looking shopping list, however, your final BHP figure will all be down to tuning. Getting the right tuning person/company will make all the difference. Are you planning on staying with a stock ECU and getting it tuned? Or perhaps thinking further afield, where there will be more expertise in the UK with an aftermarket solution using, for example, a DTA/Emerald/Motec/other ECU. I should imagine a rear-wheel figure of 500BHP will be realistic - which would mean you pushing 600 at the fly (assuming a 20% transmission loss which isn't unrealistic) Good luck!! Simon.

Ebay Supra - Never have I read such *****cks!
Since someone has put a £250K bid down - what's the seller's listing fee going to be LOL?? :) That'll chap his arse when the bill comes through

guess the bhp
Next week - wow good work! In all seriousness, getting straight on the dyno will run the engine in nicely actually - in one sitting! Get about 10 pulls under your belt and that's said to be equivalent to a 500 miles worth of wear!

10 second diesel
Muhahaha - it looked like the smoke from an Iraqi oil-well fire LOL. Still, deve8uk has point - but I think Al Gore should go SUCK a tailpipe and do us all a favour ;)

cambelt
for the stubby coolant hoses - go to Nissan / MJP / whoever and get the proper spring clips! (If you don't already have them that is). When I first got my Z, the engine had already been rebuilt and had jubilee clips on there - man, what a P.I.T.A to remove!! Simon.
-
guess the bhp
...don't keep us waiting too long!! :) When are you planning on visiting the dyno roughly? If your spec is "about to be" xyz then presumably you won't be on the dyno for a couple of months maybe? Si.

guess the bhp
440 at the wheels

Fitted HID's... lights still poor...
When I disassembled my h/lights a few years ago I noticed the reflectors which sit behind the bulbs had seriously discoloured from the bulb heat and dirt build up. Using some carb cleaner on a cloth helped a lot but the upper halfs of the reflectors were still browner. Simon.
