Purchased a 300zx turbo Not sure if I done the right thing..
Groover what's the voltage supposed to be on the tps, a ptu can also cause stalling or just not starting, as mine did that when I plugged it in and left the little metal retaining clip off

Insurance after an accident
Stalling? I'd change the ptu first

Conzults reading on a auto
Well given up with official software after it kept moaning that the cable wasn't plugged in so switched to the trial software, (yes it's a conzults reader/cable it's got it stamped on the big Gray box thing down buy the connector) anyway the trial gave me a fault codes and monitoring and not much else. Car is a Uk spec TT, suffering a smoking issue similar to what artztogo's is like, smokes from idle, and when you put your foot down a bit, but then clears when crusing, only to smoke again once idle, and the gear box only uses 2nd gear and reverse. And flagged up codes 34 for the det sensor And code 54 for communication to auto transmission gear box fault Haven't cleared the codes and done it again yet as I'm taking a break lol But thoughts on the gear box error code would be appreciated, it's going to get changed anyway, was just interested in what would flag up code 54. Need to do the det sensor by pass clear the code and see of the timing goes back to normal It was showing my timing at 25 on idle and lean Really wanted to use conzults to see what the gear box was doing as it's only got 2nd gear

Engine Electrics, possible mis-firing
Well hope it all goes well, and if you need to pop it into me, I've got the free version of consults at the moment running, I know it doesn't give all the functionality but at least it let's you read any error codes it throws up, and monitor things

the Auto box
Always worth having a nose about, I'll get some pictures When doing it as well, might help shed some light on why the auto box is a common failure point, always been interested in the why. Suppose there really is only one way to find out

Friday the 13th
And this is why you have bad luck lol, though saying that the more you try to avoid all these bad luck things, the more bad luck you usually get , I dont mean you should go running under ladders all day long though, as eventually some bugger will drop something on your noggin lol

the Auto box
Well, the idea wasn't to have a go at fixing one, as if it failed it will be a bit of a waist of time getting it on and off and back on the car again, it was more interest in why so many auto boxes end up as scrap, and what the most common failure point is on them, from what I've read so far, it seems to be the gear change selonoid (or something like that) that seems to fail first
-
the Auto box
Well im on my way to do a auto box swap on Saturday, and was just wondering why the auto fails so much? and why its a waist of time getting it sorted out (im on about professionally and not by some cowboy who says they can do a gearbox rebuild but only changes the fooked part and it ends up going again a few months later down the line) What im interested in is, does anyone have a walk through, or is there a walk through of a auto strip and rebuild to do with what parts do what inside? Its about the only item i haven't taken apart to have a nose inside off. Seems to be a few posts scattered around and all of them, when the gear box goes in varying degrees, the answer is always the same 2, either change the box for another known good one, or go manual. Surely there has to of been someone (jeff ) who has taken one apart to find out whats going on? and surely not all of them can be only good for the scrap pile once it fails in one of many mysterious ways. So, whats everyone's thoughts on this? or shall i just take a knackered one apart and see whats what my self? lol
