  8. Had my car round Darrens today ,we,ve changed the oil and filter , that was for starters while the engine cooled down , then did the PCV valves and pipes and yes the valves were shot so hopefully that,ll sort out my smoke on idle problem :hyper: We then did a plenum bypass as i,d got a leak from somewhere under there , not too bad a job really just fiddly but well worth doing just for peace of mind :nana2: So now i,ve got less skin on my knuckles than i had this morning but it was worth it , thanks bud , your a star

  17. Hiya greg , it happens when it,s warmed up ,i can be just pootling back from work , stop at a set of lights and on tickover occasionally i,ll get a puff of smoke from the n/s ,by the time it,s passed the car i look in the side mirror there,s no more smoke   Do you know if there,s a diagram of how to do the bypass with the plenum in place , i,ve got the one with the plenum off and there seems to be pipes going all over the place . :headvswal Thanks
  18. Just recently i,ve been getting the old smoke on tickover problem, but it,s only a quick waft of smoke and then it,s gone  Now today i removed my hard pipes (which are Stainless ones ) on the n/s which is the side that smokes occasionaly , am i right in thinking , if the tub seals were on there way out i would have a coating of oil or at least some dirty looking coating on the insides of the hard pipes as mine are still clean and shiny ??? Am i right in thinking It,s gotta be my PCV valves, hopefully :hyper: Also it,s sprung a water leak , seams to be coming from behind and below the n/s throttle body and dripping down onto the a/c pump but can,t see where it,s coming from , does this sound like i need to do a plenum bypass ? and if so can it be done without removing the plenum ? Cheers in advance Allan
  19. I think its there to prevent chafing , adds a bit of protection to your fuel pipe :hyper: HTH
  20. Yay , another Notts member :hyper: :hyper: Where are you based bud , i,m in Hucknall   Oh and welcome to the forum :nana2: Mines an auto , you,ll find that they have tall gearing which makes them feel as if your not excellerating that fast , then look at your speedo and you,ll realise it,s an illusion cos your already breaking the national speed limit in second gear and leaving most other motors behind . I caned a scooby in a straight line sprint last week, could see the front of his car rising and dipping as he went through the gears but i still pulled away . ( it was my first scooby kill and i,m quite chuffed if you hav,nt guessed :D )
