  15. My cat did a dissapearing act on saturday :headvswal While me and the missus were searching the golf course behind us for the cat , she tore a ligament in her foot :headvswal To cap it off , i was underneath a car , which in turn was mounted on a chassis jig , using a Porto Power ram with attachments fitted ( very heavy ) the whole lot fell and smacked me square in the face   The result is a very sore jaw , a split lip with four stitches :headvswal and i,m having to drink my coffee through a straw  Apart from that everythings peachy
  16. I bypassed mine in situ , quite easy . You need to remove the hard pipes off the turbo,s to gain access to the turbo coolant pipes . If you look at the two metal pipes at the back of the engine that feed the matrix , each one has a small pipe just below were the rubber feed pipes to the matrix are.these feed the water around the plenum and the tubs. Remove the original turbo rubber 6mm coolant pipes , take a new feed from the matrx feed pipes mentioned above , one to each turbo and thats it   HTH
  17. Finally got to see Whitesnake last night , they f00king rocked
  18. Saw a nice Silver swb with AVS alloys in the car park next to Rock City Nottingham , tuesday evening
  19. Merc said the spring cups should be riveted but can,t be because it,s an mot failure :headvswal The riveting i was refering to is on all new merc,s , just been on a course for the new R class , they were showing us the repair techniques on the wizz computer , we had a look at a fair few models and all of them have got areas that have to be riveted rather than welded . I think i,m just an old school panelbeater , can,t get my head round riveting inner wing,s to the bulkhead , just seems wrong
  20. I thought Merc,s were a class car till about 5 years ago when i started repairing the bl00dy things , they rust worse than fiats and now merc just want you to de-rust by sandblasting and re-paint as cheaply as possible , they very rarely replace many rusting panels unless there completely rotten :xxx: They,ve even produced a Special tool to combat the rust which forms around E class door window frames , basically a metal cutting saw which you remove a section of frame with ( the part thats rusting ) and glue the door seal over it , to hide it !!!! As for repair techniques , in certain areas you can,t weld new panels in place because of the new high tensile steels that are used , weld them and it weakens them :headvswal So how do you fit new panels ....YOU RIVET THEM  The special rivet gun is 2 grand !! A guy at work has just been on a merc warranty course , merc admitted build quality went down the toilet to cut costs and if you have a problem with your exspensive motor they,ll do as little as they can get away with  Nice eh ? I,ll stick with my 16 yaer old Nissan anyday
  21. Is it happening when you are coming on and off the throttle ? if so you,ll find it,s the torque converter unlocking when you take your foot off the gas and locking back up a couple of seconds after you put your foot on the gas again , this happens in fourth gear . If it,s happening on it,s own when your foots constantly on the gas then as above , check TPS setting . HTH
