I've been to see Steve today and discussed colours etc... All I need to do now is finalise my colour choice and arrange a date with him and the car will go in for the respray. He showed me some of the work he has done and it looks fantastic. In all fairness I have got a colour in mind and he's going to do some test sprays on a larger scale that the colour charts and we will see if it will look okay on the car. That's exactly my concern especially as I will be spending £2K on paint. I was then wondering if the under bonnet mirror panels can be fastened to the insulation and still look good.

Cheers, the other reason I want to remove it is to affix mirrors as and when I get the engine all shiny. :)

I'm going to have the car resprayed soon but I am considering removing the insulation from the underside of the bonnet. Is this purely there for sound insulation or am I risking allowing more heat to possibly damage the new paint?

I took my rad off the other day for a reason I wont go into and it only took about a hour to remove check replace and refill and i'm no mechanic. Got to do it again this week when I get my new rad pipes from Smithy and replace with proper coolant.

I saw a black one drive past the meet location and then I saw a silver one on the way home! I reckon there are probably more unregistered Z owners than there are of us.

Just remove the radiator cap and then get underneath and you should find a plastic pipe, about 3 inches long which has a "tap" on it, open it up and drain her out. On the UK rad it's on the bottom left as you look at the front of the car. PS Don't refill with water, use proper coolant otherwise prolonged use of water causes corrosion of the rad. There is also a reservoir on the right of the rad with a fill level indicator.
