  1. Hi Kev, The reason that hi-flow radiators use a higher pressure radiator cap is so that the coolant can reach higher temperatures before it "boils" (the higher the pressure, the higher the boiling point of a liquid). Stock radiator cap: 1.1kg/cm2 = 15.6psi Hi-flow radiator cap: 1.3kg/cm2 = 18.5psi 13psi = 0.9km/cm2, so therefore not high enough pressure. I believe you can get the correct 1.1kg/cm2 radiator caps from MJP in the traders section. Having said that, your hi-flow radiator will work best at 1.3kg/cm2. HTH Regards,
  2. That's fantastic news Leigh! Congratulations - looks like you're going in the right direction! On a side note - we really need to get together and catch up, it has been far too long! I'll try to call you during the week to see if we can set something up. Would be great to see you and Lucie for a drink/meal. Cheerio chap and good luck with the gig! Dan
  3. 38mm in the centre of the top hose. Regards,
  4. I'm afraid the only upgrade I can offer for the rear brakes is a full KSport 6-pot conversion (330mm). Info and cost on: http://www.smithys-place.co.uk/brakes.php Regards, Dan
  5. Hi Colin, I run the company (Smithy's Place) that originally came up with that design. Although we no longer list it in our parts catalogue we can still get them made up. Price wise you're looking at £180 for the pipe work, silicone couplers, filter adapters and jubilee clips. The A'pexi filters are another £110 each. If you get nowhere with the secondhand set and fancy all new parts the please let me know. Lead time for the pipe work is usually 5~7 working days. Regards,
  6. Hi Mark, Good to speak with you earlier this morning. I've not been able to get hold of the chap who made Rob's brackets for me but will continue to try. I've just had a quick look at the specs of the EVO 6 and EVO 8 discs and in both instances it would appear that the centre bore is 69mm (versus 68mm for the Z32). However, the disc diameter should be 320mm (not 310mm) and the thickness is 32mm. The height of the disc is 43.5mm (versus 54mm for the Z32) so as you can see on many different accounts the Evo discs won't fit the Z32 hub. You are probably best off buying a set of DBA 4000-series discs, either for a 350Z (£378.00 + p&p) or GT-R33 (£350.00 + p&p). Both are as close as you'll get to the EVO 8 discs and are 324mm diameter, thickness (30mm) and have the correct mounting PCD and bell height. In any case, I'll get back to you regarding the caliper bracket work and we can discuss disc choices at that point. All the best,
  7. Those bulbs are not ever used as indicater bulbs (to the best of my knowledge). Normally, indicator bulbs are either 382 or 581's (which are 12V/21W). I stock these but not the other bulbs. I'm sorry I can't be of more assistance ... Good luck. Dan
  8. Hi Baz, Thanks for the info - I have not come across them before but will contact them. Cheers!
  9. Yes, I've seen some of those and CDF is actually well known to me. Thanks for the info :) Regards,
  10. I'd like to be born far ahead into the future - say the year 3000 or so. Given the rate at which technology is progressing I can't even begin to fathom what it'd be like then. Better yet, be born on an interstellar starship, travelling the galaxy in search of new worlds ... I'll get my coat now ...
  11. Thanks Mike, appreciate it. I am awaiting a response from Syko. Depending on what he suggests I may ask you. Regards,
  12. Thanks for the pointer Stella! Much appreciated. Regards,
  13. Hi all, Have done the "search" thing and I'm either being a real man about (ie, incapable of searching for anything) or this particular question has not been covered. What I'm after is a set of four, 25~30mm hubcentric wheel spacers for my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Have found plenty in the US but given the crap exchange rate and high shipped weight of the b*ggers I'd rather buy them in the UK. I have googled and bing'd but can't find anyone in the UK who supplies there. So I might have to go down the custom manufacturing route. The question is, does anyone know a company that will CNC these for me to my specification and at a reasonable price? I might be asking a lot here ... Answers on a postcard please ... ;) Thanks for your time. Regards,
  14. That makes for interesting reading. As stated in the text, the results are controversial and contrary to what a lot of other "independent" tests have indicated. I guess it's a bit like hearing about the unemployment level: the figure depends on who is reporting it and what methodology was used. Statistics are ever so easy to manipulate in order to generate a pre-determined outcome. I'm not saying that the Australian publication had a hidden agenda. In any case, what is important here is that through years of experience with A'PEXi filters I (and many others) have concluded that they are the best filter for the Z32 under most normal driving conditions. Their main advantage is that they are a dry-type filter, meaning the cotton does not contain any oil (which is mostly used to trap contaminants) which may then cause problems for flow rates). This also means (a) it won't damage the MAF sensor and (b) it is very easy to clean (just dunk in clean water, use a soft brush and then dry thoroughly - no re-oiling required). Furthermore, they offer a Z32 specific filter kit so no messing about with universal adapter plates and dodgy jubilee clips. Thanks for posting that link Ossian, very interesting indeed!
  15. Yes, our Apexi kits are specific to the Z32. The issue with the universal flange is that they don't line up nicely with our Z32 MAF design. I very often see Apexi kits advertised as being for the Z32 and then pictured with either the 350Z or S14 MAF plate/gasket. Neither of these work well on our Z32's. @ Rigs, that may have been from old stock then ... guess you were lucky. Regards,
  16. No problem Dan! Just let me know when you're sending one over (would be useful if you can also send over the bell). Regards, Dan
  17. Yes, I tried them and they haven't got any in stock when I checked yesterday. Also, this is just for the universal filter head, the gasket and fixing bolts are not included.
  18. Yes, there's a major supply problem (worldwide) and as such prices have gone up astronomically. Rrp used to be £65 however now it's £110 ... :-( Anyway, I've got access to very limited stock at one of my suppliers ( Regards,
  19. OK, this is going to be a tall order unless you know the exact make and dimensions of the bells. I've recently gone through this exercise for Sumshiftyguy with AP Racing and withouth having the actual rotors to work off it was a near impossible job to get replacements. With AP the problem is that they never did a 300ZX specific brake kit (other than for Stillen in the US and even those are not specific to the Z32). Basically, in order to find replacement rotors you'll need to know the following: Bell mounting PCD Bell bolt size (length, diameter and head size) Thickness of rotor (ie 30mm, 32mm, etc) Rotor contact patch size (ie, what is the measurement from inner to outer diameter) Or, if you can spare the rotor and send it to me I can drop it by my local AP Racing dealer and have them examine it. Let me know if I can help. Regards,
  20. Thanks for your investigation and report! Much appreciated. All the best, Dan
  21. Thanks guys! Reason I asked is that a customer of mine needs some Porterfield pads but there is no specific listing for a R33GTST ... Zedwizz - I would be very interested to find out if the pads you're using are the same as the Z32 pads - please let me know. Regards,
  22. Hi all, Just a quick question, does anyone know if the R33GTS-T calipers are the same as our Z32 calipers? The R33GTR calipers are the upgrades but I'm not sure whether the GTS-T cars had the same calipers as the Z32. Answers on a postcard please ;) All the best,
  23. You'll need approx 3 metres of ID8mm hose and yes, for power steering fluid you'll need high pressure oil hose (I dont recommend silicone hose for this application.) If you require any silicone hoses then please let me know your requirements as I stock most size hoses and couplers. Regards,
  24. That is indeed a very serious failing ... Glad to see the defects were spotted during the MOT and not on public roads! I must say though, I've seen this type of problem with a number os braided brake lines before (not wishing to generalise but they usually came off eBay ...) Looking at the pictures, I can sumise two problems, namely (1) brake lines appear not to be long enough to allow full steering movement and (2) the line locators/brackets seemingly can not freely slide over the plastic sheath covering the braided line. Let me go on by assuring our customers who purchased DTA-Motorsport (UK) braided brake lines that a tremendous ammount of design and testing has gone into our products. To date we have not had a single failure on any of our braided brake lines and we're hoping to keep it that way. During the design phase we decided to extend our brake lines directly to the caliper - not only does this eliminate an additional metal pipe but it also means that our lines are longer than normal brake lines and indeed most other aftermarket braided brake lines on the market. This primarily allows for our lines to have plenty of "reach" between full lock of the steering wheel. Furthermore, you will have noticed that our braided brake lines do not have a plastic outer sheath. There are two reasons for this, (1) it allows the brake lines to move FREELY through the line locators/brackets thus eliminating stretching of the line and (2) it makes it very easy to spot any defects in the overbraid. To protect the overbraid against the elements all that is required is a light coating of WD40 every 6 or so months. Our lines may be more expensive than the average HEL/Goodridge/eBay varieties but you are getting a well designed and thoroughly tested product. All our brake line kits are manufactured by a company that provides various parts to the motorsport and aerospace industries (including F1 and Rallye teams as well as Fokker and BAE aerospace) and each line is pressure tested to 3000psi to ensure there are no leaks prior to shipping. I apologise for blabbing on like this but I thought it important to assure our current and future customers that our braided brake line kits are of the highest quality and backed by a full, A1 customer service. It is a pitty that the HEL product seems to have failed on the above vehicles. Makes me wonder how many people are driving around with nearly failing brake lines. So check your lines periodically! Regards,
  25. It's not the shock absorbers that lower the car, it's lowering springs. If you wish to lower your car than you can't go far wrong by using (for example) Stock shock absorbers with Eibach springs or if you want adjustable suspension then opt for KYB-AGX shocks and Eibach springs. I can get either of the above combinations but they are expensive. (KYB's are approx. £450 and Eibach's about the same).
