  1. dam it!! i was going to go into Brighton tonight as well, but when it started to rain thought id give it a miss...
  2. wow, dont know how you lot cope, mines been off the road for 4 months, and im already having withdrawal symptoms....
  3. that's a good point i have a spare cooler, and should have the other bits on the spare engine too. thanks guys just wanted to check before i let one of our mechanics loose on my only spare sump. thanks mark will give you a pm if i dont have a good spare.
  4. can someone clear up for me, is the NA sump different from the TT one? i know it has the 2 oil return holes in it and i think one for the cooler, but are they essentially the same dimensions etc? im buying Sherrgar NA, with the intention of ordering a new sump for it but, i cant get one...Nissan no longer keep them..... so one of the mechanics suggested modifying the TT sump from one of my spare engines, welding the holes up etc. but i want to know if it will fit.
  5. they are really expensive, lol ordered a set for my rebuild engine as it has suspect noisy lifters, its cheaper to get them from the states then to get them from nissan uk.
  6. sorry drift/ track days, really miss taking my s13 drifting. had more fun in that thing then any thing else i've ever driven, and want to get the zed just as playful. when i had my s13, the hand brake was also great for sprint racing. and the zeds i've owned the OE handbrake could never seem to lock the rear wheels enough to do the tight turns. always made me look stupid when the other cars in the club flew round and my zed bogged down... and most track/ shows etc are in the summer season, its not a daily drive any more, and it was goint to get scrapped, so why not not have some fun with it. .... (pausing before volleys of insults)
  7. been playing with my zed today, my thoughts were its going to the scrap man anyway, might as well try a few things id have never done to it whilst it was whole. and well im set on keeping it now, im just going to tone down the engine rebuild a bit. kinda inspired by slick petes efforts, but i want to make a road legal track day car out of it, so i cant be quite so extreme, and unfortunately its a LWB Targa to start with. my mate has measured it up for a roll cage, and our engineering shop are playing with an old set of roofs to see if they can fabricate a metal targa. well wondering what else can be removed and keep the zed road legal? i've removed the seats, all interior panels, all the seatbelts apart from the drivers side. removed all the central locking, no carpet, or lining. took out the dash and removed all the ducts and the heater units, fixed all the dodgy wiring with the dash out, literally removed 4 meters of unused wire ??? no idea what someone had been trying to do... fitted a racing seat from my old s13 and stated to fit the s13's hydraulic handbrake, but just want to know if im plumbing it right?
  8. anyway told you this would start getting out of hand. :tongue_smilie:
  9. think this threads going to get out of hand quickly. as staring to take offence to the comments... i loved my zed, nearly bankrupted me on a weekly basis to keep the thing going, but after 2 years of fixing it just to have something else fail on it it starts to get to you, but it was one of the hardest decision I've ever made to strip it for bits. as it happens im on the verge of changing my mind... seeing it stripped out and what slick pete has done, i've just had my mates round measuring it up for a roll cage,
  10. sounds like a bargain, z1 have just started to sell them for $1800 in the states. i drove the managers 370 the other day, they are a bit boring compared to a TT Z32, but bloody hell they stop quickly. ,
  11. are you respraying that bumper or painting a new one? if its that bumper a competent body shop should be able to mask it so it wouldn't need painting but there is no paint code as far as im aware.
  12. i like them, remember reading something somewhere where they called the viper and corvette the american Z-cars lol.
  13. if your doing it to go faster then its probably not the best route, but if your doing it for the fun of it, and because you can then i say go for it :thumbup1: im waiting to see the first zed crossed with a leaf... our leaf demo is faster off the line then anything else we've had in.
  14. found this on another site, http://www.modified.com/features/modp-0910-1990-nissan-300zx-twin-turbo/photo_05.html
  15. thanks, getting excited about driving it already though my rebuild consists of a re bored block and that it at the moment lol.
  16. do you think i should get 500's then? its not a daily drive any more, supporting upgrades, 90mm pistons and forged rods 1mm oversized valves, 1000cc injectors, (only because i bought the wrong fuel rail for 555's ... ) not sure what turbos yet. was going to get stiffer springs are the stiffer vtc springs no good then?
  17. can someone give me a few pointers on camshafts. wasn't going to bother with cams for my rebuild but one of our master techs paid me a visit today and was chatting about the new engine I've decided to uprate them, the ones i want are JWT 400+ ones, but what else do i need to run them, i know i need the special spring, but can i keep the hydraulic lifters? do i need different gears? etc?
  18. looks nice, not seen that kind before. i've got my real 99 spec bumper at the bodyshop at the mo having a proudear splitter fitted, other wise id be making you an offer,
  19. fist of all not mine but just saw this on ebay, kinda strange its got 89 spec light holes and the splitter only fits 99 spec bumpers looks like a cross of the 2??? looked different i like it.
  20. its half the reason im building my engine myself so i know exactly what im getting, really sorry to hear it though, know what its like was sold a set of turbos not too long ago and im convinced they are not what they were sold as, will be finding out when they are sent off for inspection in the next couple of weeks. good luck with getting a resolution.
  21. if your worried they might come back and try again id suggest you remove the fuel pump relay in the engine bay, (its in the small box on the drivers side near the firewall) ill stop the engine firing even if they hot-wired it.
  22. i've got turbo Technics stage 2's, with FMIC, selin dual intake, blitz controller etc. but they are not worth the metal they are made from, got next to no more BHP once fitted, just more lag. will be getting a replacement set from z1 at some point not sure what size yet.
  23. unfortunately took longer then expected to redo the side to get them sitting right, so haven't finished filling smoothing them, but..... what do you think? worth carrying on?
  24. the 99 spec is currently off having the splitter fitted properly and painted. ill probably just make a pair of ducts like the car.mad ones i currently have but to fit the indicator hole, only had it painted a few months ago so wont replace it just yet.
  25. well said, was about to say mine was given a clean bill of health and has done about the same miles as yours, but something has caused it to kill cylinder 6 in the space of a week, it went from 150psi to 50psi compression in 7 days, hence why mines now getting a forged rebuild.
