  1. Hi. If sourcing a replacement ecu (1991 NA Manual) is it just NA / Manual that are compatible and am I correct that between 1990 and 1992 are 8bit and later are 16bit ? Any info that is relevant from reference numbers as pictured ? Any advice appreciated. 👍
  2. Hi All As I'm no expert I'd really appreciate any input on how to continue with hopefully finding my fault please. I put ignition on, turned dial on ecu clockwise for 3 secs then back to hopefully get a code to narrow down problem but no light unfortunately. I then disconnected ecu turned ignition on and used test light to check what pins were receiving power. I have added photo showing powered pins highlighted. Strangely pin 49 and 59 had nothing (so I suppose that answers why no light + fault) also pin 32 was markedly dimmer for some reason??? Any info on how to move forward with further testing would be great, (in simplest of terms please as not a wiz at this sort of thing)
  3. Things have been hectic so nothing has got any further since first thread unfortunately If anyone can give any pointers to trying to find a cure to the problems it would be greatly appreciated. Between the showers today had a quick look. Took fuel pump relay out of plug and there seems to be 2 power feeds to this plug whether the ignition is off or on which I thought odd ?????
  4. Hi jimmer. Thanks for message, I was going to pull the pump/sender but didn't bother as I quickly jumped the pump relay connector to bypass relay and the pump could be heard. So it seems the ground trigger is not getting sent to relay as relay is not clicking when ignition is turned on but relay works when tested. Thinking this must be the case for loss of spark aswell ?????? Thanks for trying to help as I'm completely in the dark with it all 👍
  5. Sorry for delay it's a manual. Yes starter engages and turns engine. Thanks for replying.
  6. Hi JaiKai I can't seem to reply to my last post sorry. It's a 1991 N/A I'm probably too old to be remember on here
  7. Hi All. Been far too long since being on here. Feel disgusted it's been over 18 years since my Z has seen the road. I should have tended to her far earlier. She's been started and run periodically with a jump pack and always fired up straight away and had done so all these years. Been a few months and decided to fire her up to move, as usual she struck up straight away with jump pack but instantly died and hasn't started since. When turning ignition on noticed I couldn't hear pump prime, so checked relay and seemed to be ok but doesn't seem to be getting triggered.(Bypassed relay at connector, pump could be heard) I thought when checking it must just be fuel problem but when checking it seems there is no longer spark either. Checked the obvious fuel pump relay, fuse, egi relay, ign coil relay but appear to function. Getting 2 power feeds to the relay when I checked at connector but no click when turning ignition on. So appears for some reason I've lost fuel and coils being triggered. I'm no mechanic or electrical technician but very willing to listen and take any appreciated advise that anyone can give to hopefully get life back into the old girl so I can start her well deserved restoration. Just couldn't understand how she fired up first touch of the key as usual then instantly shut off???? Any insight greatly appreciated 👍
  8. Hi Mark. Thanks for the quick reply ,really appreciated.(Glad I asked) All the best John.
  9. Hi All, Could anyone tell me if a TT power steering pump and pipework would be a direct replacement for a NA or are there differences please ?
  10. Cheers Al. One tidy motor you have there.
  11. Hi All As you probably know my nephew has just bought our grey Z. He's asked me what spark plugs I advise ? Not an expert, so could I ask your preferences please before advising him ? Its a TT, JWT CHIP, HYBRIDS, 345 BHP. Thanks

Totally agree with you mate. Wish Jeff & Jamie were based closer to me as I wouldn't think of going anywhere else regarding the Z .

Just noticed Little REDZED had wrote about me getting a bit hyper about the road test a few years ago. We all know how it is ,due to how we feel about our motors. Don't like anyone driving MY motor unless I'm aware of it going to happen. BUT , fair play ,I can remember vaguely through the red mist that the reason was as several have said "brakes needed to be tested on road and not on rollers." So I felt a bit of a twit:wacko:
  14. Cheers for quick reply mate. Will do it now.
  15. Hi All Been subscribed and registered on here since 2004,but been registered for quite a while. With regret, looks like the wide bodied motor will have to go:cry: so want to pay my subs and post it up,just wondered which fee to pay please. All the best.
  16. Thanks for reply mate, really appreciated , hope I can achieve the "5 if your lucky" as spent quite a bit on her since buying last year.
  17. Hi All, Due to circumstances may need to reluctantly sell (too much month at the end of the money as they say!). Just wondered ,if it does come to it how much I could hopefully achieve.I know any cars only worth what someone wants to pay you for it but would be grateful for an approx realistic price. Quick description a UK TT Manual 1992 345bhp. Photos in "Little REDZED" ,if it does have to go he'll be gutted, believe me. All the best REDZED + Little REDZED.
  18. HAPPY 12th BIRTHDAY SON. "My little champ" (Not so little anymore!) Very best wishes ,hope your having a good Birthday (You deserve it.) Only another 5 years till you can legally drive a Z but you better start saving now for insurance:laugh: All the best matey.
  19. " HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZEE " All the best mate.
  20. cloth interior / all standard.
  21. no mate, but could soon get some. (all standard anyway)
  22. Sorry to bother you mate, which Alex is it thats just completed swap ? Any further info regarding topic of swap greatly appreciated by anyone please.
  23. Hi Rich, Did own both many moons ago. The swb was a tt and that sadly got sold. The one I was thinking of converting is the lwb (it now has the wheels that were on the swb). At the moment just got the grey tt back on the road after bottom end rebuild."Little REDZED" Harry ,my son has just put photos of it ,in his rides section. Love this car so much and was going to sell red na to get some much needed funds back.Trouble is "call me a soppy sentimental" ,I've owned the na since May 2000 and I don't think me or the family could let her go.So lots of thoughts mulling around my head at the moment. At the end of the day,the grey one has everything I love, wide arches, nice wheels (in my opinion), twin turbo "love the power", 2+2 ,manual box, etc, etc. Its going to be a very hard tug which ever way I go, so just going to do my homework and not rush into anything.
  24. Thanks for quick reply, like the sound of the info you've given already. Sounds promising, like the sound of quicker acceleration with a bit of reduced top end. Hope the info keeps coming. All the best.
  25. Due to funds and time the Z is finally back on the road and has now covered its first 100 miles faultlessly (Thank God !) . Thanks everyone for advise that I required at the time, especially "vodkashots" who kindly offered to come and help if I went engine replacement route. Harry (Little REDZED) is so chuffed and will be posting some pics up tomorrow. Long story, but back to title now : Can anyone give me info regarding changing a 1991, jap import, na, manual, to a tt manual. 1/Just wondered if na gearbox could be used or would it be good idea to change engine and box ?(Thinking ratios different and if tt engine upgraded it would probably rip na box apart ??) 2/Any links or info regarding the swap process greatly appreciated ? I know its probably a hard and stressfull way but if deciding this route, would you say buy an accident damaged/rough bodied tt to source ecu, loom, intercooler, required parts, etc,???? Just thought it might be the most economical way. All info appreciated, cheers.
