  1. buy it...so i can sell you my old wheels :)
  2. If I get my head gasket sorted then I'll pop along...which brings me to my next question since I'm in a thread for Scotland - any of you guys used or heard any reports about Cylinder Head Express, Drumoyne Road, Glasgow? Got a quote of £400 from them to sort my z31, had a search online and only found one report on them, it was on a ford puma forum and they got slated...but the guy that posted that only got them to skim the head and then he did the rest of the work himself, said after he put it back together he was burning a lot of oil - quote below 'cylinder head express they reconditioned a head for me and well it was a shambles! got it back fitted it pt the engine back together started it and it was burning lots of oil. phoned CHD and they said well i never fitted valve stem seals if you'd have bought your gaskets from me i would have fitted them! needless to say i wanted to slap him with a wet kipper!'
  3. unfortunately its a z31 NA mate so no turbos
  4. I did have an old bmw that was a bit of a fuel guzzler as well when I got my z31 so I ditched the bmw in favour of a (slightly) more economical Fiesta XR2i - I TRY to use the fiesta as my daily driver and just use the zed for fun...but in reality its prob 50/50, I always keep both sets of keys in my pocket to allow a last minute decision as I leave for work which one I'll take...but if you've seen my 'gutted' post then you'll know the fiesta will be getting a hammering for the next couple of weeks
  5. I'm working 12 hour shifts just now so its too dark when I get home to have a decent look at it but I'll be sure to find the time one morning to give that a go before I book it in a garage mate but I'm pretty sure the damage has already been done, its not a trickle of coolant, it was emptying its guts all over the engine bay when I looked at it last night. Phoned a few places today, most of them didn't want to touch it, those that did quote said 'about £700-£800'...then I got Cylinder Head Express and they said they could prob do it for £400
  6. Cheers mate, I'm trying not to...but had a look today and it defo looks like head will need skimmed and gasket replaced  - I'm willing to start taking donations towards my cause via paypal
  7. The z31 has been sitting for a couple of weeks until I get round to ordering a piece of pice of pipe with banjo bolt for the dif cooler but its tapped off just now anyway so I thought I'd give it a jump start and put some charge back in it with a short blast around...stopped at petrol station 30 mins later and steam started pi$$in out the bonnet, popped it and a steady flow of coolant spraying out the side of the engine...too gutted to inspect further, just drove home and dumped it
  8. z31youngr300zx - Ross - Glasgow - 1989 (z31) 300zx - black facelift 2+2 N/A ...all welded up and reporting for duty:nana2:
  9. cheers guys, aye hopefully get a long to some meets soon. I am sure it is petrol and the pipes are only 10-15 mm wide.
  10. I've got an 89 z31 2+2 NA (UKK spec) and I've got a puddle developing on the road, had a look underneath and I can see 2 thin pipes running from what looks like some sort of small radiator under the rear bumper (not sure what this is and dont see it in the haynes manual), these 2 pipes run round the side of the fuel tank (passing above the filler neck) and as the start to curl round to the front end of the tank, one of the pipes just ends and this is where the fluid is leaking from, the other pipe continues down the car...to somehere and seems fine. Anybody know where this broken pipe should be going? Or what this radiator like thing is under the rear bumper? Car is running fine but I can see some damp patches around this broken pipe which makes me think it is dripping when parked up but may be spurting out when I'm actually driving.
  11. cheers mate, its due back from the welders shop in a week or so, I'll take some photos and get them uploaded to give you a chance to withdraw that last statement before the show
  12. I'm a newbie to the forum but of the dwindling z31 variety...its in no way fit for display but I'll bring it out for the day and I'll be sure to pop along to say hello to you chaps, I'm just through in Glasgow.
  13. I've got pretty much the same question but for z31 facelift model. Its a 2+2 NA that I have and need to replace the power steering pump, been offered one from a z31 turbo of the same year (1989) but nobody (nissan included) seems to able to confirm if the turbo ps pump will fit...any body know?
