Same sort of problem here................. Recently my starter motor was replaced and upon refitting one of the bolts wouldn't bite so a slightly oversized bolt was used - this went in and tightened up a treat.

Hi there mate welcome to the world of ZX ownership and by the way SWB NA - top choice (manual or auto??) Good idea to get a cambelt service,oil+filter change + all other filters and fluids. I would also get the steering/brake/suspension components all checked along with the tyres (preferably off the car) The fuel line smell is a common problem - try tightening all the connectors on the fuel lines in the engine bay first - cured the problem for me. Other common problems that you may encounter: Non functioning clock Dodgy glovebox latch Electric aerial that doesn't fully retract Seatbelts slow to retract Worn bolster on the drivers seat I use my SWB, NA, manual as a daily driver and so far so good - get 23mpg and still plenty of performance Oh, and the most important thing - what colour is it??? Blue ones are best!!!!!
