PC Query !!
When you are looking at a particular pic or image, you can right click on it, then click "save as background" and hey presto, your background or wallpaper changes. My pc has stopped doing that for some reason ?? Screen is just blue ? Went to Start, Control Panel, Display and Desktop. I can change the colour and see what pic is supposed to be there on the sample screen, but not on my screen, just a solid colour ? Never done this before and it happened right after I downloaded an update from Java. Any idea ?? Alan....................

Bloody Typical British Weather
Thats a bummer fella !!:( Stellaz is right, it is a rite-off. Mines was written off for a stupid wee ding in the rear panel, just between the rear lights and the bumper. I had taken the rights to retain the salvage on my collectors policy, so was offered two choices. A lump sum, or a lower sum and keep the car, and it wasnt recorded !! Cat D. Dont need to tell you what I chose !;) Chin up fella, maybe time to think about the wide arch on the new shell ?:nelson: Might make enough from selling off bits and pieces from your old shell ? Every cloud and all that ! I aint a million miles away mate, so if I can help, just holler !! Alan...............

another cyprus buyer
Converse with the guy Allan, either in your best pigeon cypriot, or email using the on-line translator if required. I sold my 4th gen Camaro Z/28 just at the end of last year on Ebay. Guy flew over from Sweden and I picked him up at the airport. Drove home to my house, he punched in the autoroute for Hull, paid cash which he had just lifted from the Bureau-De Change at the Airport after inspecting the car and went on his merry way. He contacted me 2 days later saying the car drove all the way home faultlessly and it was a bargain. Shame about the 38 tonne trailer that reversed into it on the ferry and bust the front nose cone, but there ya go !!! Lots of scammers about, but unless you have the cash, or a cleared cheque, the car aint going nowhere, just make that clear from the start. Must admit tho, it would be funny to hear a Geordie and a Cypriot talk together ? :nelson: Good luck mate, Alan....................

Compression test results ?
My mate has just got a hold of an 89, Twin Turbo, J-Spec, auto. Been sitting a wee while, but appears to start and run quite evenly. Done a compression test to start off and these are the results. Test done with engine warmed up and all spark-plugs removed. Dry test was Cylinder 1 : 150psi. Cylinder 2 : 150psi Cylinder 3 : 145psi Cylinder 4 : 150psi Cylinder 5 : 120psi Cylinder 6 : 150psi Wet test was Cylinder 1 : 165psi Cylinder 2 : 180psi Cylinder 3 : 145psi Cylinder 4 : 180psi Cylinder 5 : 140psi Cylinder 6 : 180psi Any recommendations as to whether to splash out on a rebuild, or just change the timing belt, tensioner etc and a good service. Will probably pull the engine as he has a couple of turbos lined up anyways, but would it be worthwhile doing anything else, or do the readings sound ok ? He has no mad power gains planned, just looking for a reliable Zed. Cheers, Alan.............

Serious power gains, cheaply !!

Some folks make you mad !!!
I am normally very carefull when lifting seats on a bus as you get allsorts down there. Bus has been off the road waiting on Insurance clearance for around 6 weeks, so it should be fine. As a side note, we lifted a seat last week and there was a full, very smelly kids nappy stuffed down there !:hurl: Apprentice got that one !:) Alan............

Some folks make you mad !!!
We have a bus in for repair in the workshop at the moment, with fire damage. As such, all the interior panels, trim and seats have to be removed because of the smoke damage. Lifted the very last seat today, near the end of the shift and some tosser had left an open syringe tucked down the seat ! It went straight through my heavy welding gauntlets and stuck in the end of my finger ! Almost three hours in casualty, they must have took most of my blood by the feel of it and then a stonking big jag on my arse to finish off with !!! Makes you wonder what goes through some peoples minds ?:( Still, on the brighter side, I can tell the missus there is no nookie for 3 months, that will cheer her up !:) Alan...........................

home made 99spec lights?
Changed mine as well with the light difussers. Knicked the difusser from the works toilet actually !! Used the coloured sections as a template after I had the lights apart. Would definately recommend a spare set of lights to work on, as it is a wee bit time consuming and very messy ! I tried the hot air-gun, the oven when the wife was at work etc Best method I found was, boiling water. I was fortunate enough to have the facilities at work to make up a small bath sort of thing, around 2ft long and 1ft wide and deep from old alloy cuttings. Filled it full of boiling water, popped the lights in and they came apart no problems !! Still messy tho ! Also got rid of the bolt on fog light and incorporated it in the 2 lower reverse lights. A before and after shot for you ! Alan..............

speeding fine advice
Havent a scooby doo if this is true, probably not as it sounds too easy ? As sent to me; Pay your fine, but, NO POINTS DEDUCTED, !! Read on :- This is how the points get added to your licence: If you get a fixed penalty notice through the post which also carries penalty points the computer system first sends you a demand for the cash. When you ha ve paid, it then sends a demand to return your licence for endorsement. It cannot handle the licence endorsement and the payment at the same time, and it cannot process the points pa rt of the system until the financial section is complete. If you overpay the fixed penalty, it must issue and send a refund cheque for the overpayment. Therefore, overpay the fixed penalty by sending a cheque for the full amount plus £1. The computer will then automatically generate a refund cheque for the over-payment and send it to you. **** Do not cash this refund cheque - DUMP IT. The system then remains 'open' and cannot generate the 'send your licence for endorsement' demand part of the20program. It does, however, record your payment of the fixed penalty, so it does not trigger the 'follow-up unpaid fine' stage. As there is no human intervention, the system will leave you alone, since it has got your money, which is the primary objective! Alan................

photo editing
I believe Photoshop is the way to go ? In the words of a keen photographer on another forum I frequent: The reflections are dead easy to use, flip the pic vertically, then use the warp tool to change the perspective.............the reduce the opacity of the layer, the main image is created by 5 images, Simples !!!! Turns out like this apparently ! Alan................

e-mail query ?.....
I am probably missing something out here but can anybody help. Using Internet Explorer/Hotmail and when I send an email and attach a few pics to it, the pics all appear,,one after another at the bottom of the e-mail, which is fair enough. Question is, can I write a bit of dialogue, attach a pic, write some more, attach a pic and so on, or will all the pics still come out at the end of the email ?? Seems a silly thing to ask, but would like to attach a pic, explain about the pic, attach another pic, explanation, etc, etc Puzzled, Alan................. ps, Mods can you move this to general ? my mistake, sorry !
