89 BMW 325I advice
it may feel quicker if either a) the clearances were that bad originally, then all of a sudden engine was more efficiant due to timing b) timing was slightly advanced ie.. as paul says which with a slightly advanced timing may well feel quicker.

89 BMW 325I advice
e30s are prone with head related problems, iv had 2 e30s, always had to ajust valve clearances, although saying that both had 120k + miles on and still drove great, if however the valves clearances were set to tight, which is idiotic to do, as you should check with a feeler gauge before and after you tighten/ajust! if the tolerances were to tight its possible to put to much energy through the valve and in turn cause damage, its also possible its been timed up wrong in which case tight valves clearances and timing out can cause engine problems IMO i would take it further if thats the case take it to somone who is willing to check the valve clearances and timing, then go from there greg

turbocharging an n/a
you could just change the prop uj and use the front half or grind the inside out slightly on the NA box in which case you can use the same propshaft from the NA and use a TT clutch and flywheel you may also need to space the starter out slightly aswell differential/final drive is differant although ratio is shorter so better acceleration, some top end and strength is less, but should be ok running reasonable power
