Might just be gasket paste or silicon holding it down mate. My balance bar had been "glued" down with loads of silicon and was a right bugger to get off.

You can try Nissan, they may be able to give you a copy of your key but I wouldn't hold you're breath. Another option is to buy a s/h ign barrel and key set and replace the barrel (not as scary as it sounds!) I'm sure one of the club's traders would be able to sort you out a set.

Sand down then paint them with plastidip. I gave mine one coat of satin lacquer as well, just to make them a bit more "non-slip"
