  1. Welcome to the club mate :)
  2. Your right mate, must admit it did scare the sh1t out of me and it happened without warning too. Jacking a car is a job that is very easy to do but can go so wrong so quickly with deadly results.
  3. I can just imagine in a 1000 years time that mass graves of zed's with skeletons in them will be found all over the UK  Wonder what the locals would think?
  4. being buried in it mate, taking the f***er with me!
  5. Yes and it was in gear
  6. Got told a good tip today for removing the stone chipping on the sills and wings. Use a heat gun and a metal scraper. Just heat up the stone chipping then scrape away the stonechip with the scraper. When removed sand the little bits left over off with a DA sander. This will take the sills back to bare metal and is much quicker than sanding it off. This WONT work on the front or rear bumpers as they are molded stonechipping and you'll melt them. lol
  7. Was jacking the zed up onto ramps on all corners, I did the front and had the back lowereing down on to the ramps and the bloody thing rolled of the ramps straight into me :scared: I manged to catch it with my side and stop it rolling any further as it was in danger of going straight into my garage taking me with it. Don't have a clue how it happened as it was solid and heading for a perfect landing on the ramps when it suddenly lurched backwards on to me. Anyway, turns out I was lucky and the jack hadn't slipped but had rolled backwards with the car. The only damage was a bit of a kink in the bottom of the sill joins at the back, caused by wedging on top of the ramp. I'll hammer it back to shape tomorrow :)
  8. Thanks for all the advice, I thought it was a good one too :) Especially since the price includes fixing a mahooosive dent in the rear qtr panel.... The place I'm using is a professional bodyshop with a chain of workshops, they do a lot of insurance work and do come across as a proper setup that cares about the work they do. If people want to check them out the are called Gladwins, web site is http://www.gladwins.com/ (Fingers crossed that they're not all over the net as shite. lol) ZXTT: No problem mate, I'll let you know and get some pics up when I get it back :) May take some time as I told them that I'm not in any hurry to get it done, as I could do with a break. lol
  9. Give them a good spray with wd40 or plus gas mate, maybe some heat as well if you can get to it. Good luck :cool3:
  10. Just seen this and was going to say that the block has drain plugs on it, but you beat me too it. lol
  11. Both blacks are Nissan ones mate, GL1 was the original solid black but it was replaced with KH3 solid black which is a slightly different shade. The body shop that will be doing it are a professional outfit and they will be doing a proper job.
  12. me too, one for Mr Jeff I think. lol
  13. yer ramps are squint mate ;)
  14. very good point mate :thumbup1:
  15. I've been given an estimate of £2,220 for my full respray. The bloke came over today and had a good look at the car and took lots of pics. The work they will be carrying out includes; Picking my zed up and dropping it back off (about 20mile roundtrip) 2pak paint, high build primer. Fix a large dent on the pass side rear qtr. Spray and install my 99spec spoiler. A little bit of welding on the sills (not rust related) They will be removing the bonnet, targas, front and rear bumpers, nose panel, doors and tailgate and spraying off car plus they will be doing the shut lines. The colour will be changing from GL1 black to KH3 black. I've done the majority of the prep and although it's OK, they will be giving it all a check over and redoing any bits not quite up to standard. The price given covers this, so it may actually be less than the estimate. When done they will put the car back together and machine polish it all over, then deliver back to me. So Is this a decent price for all this work? I know what I think but thought I would ask for all your opinions. forgot to say, they will be smoothing the stone chip as well.
  16. If there's a noticible drop on all 6 cylinders then is the problem a misfire? Don't know for sure as my experience is very limited. Could it be a leak in the exhaust somewhere? loose bolt etc..
  17. I'm down about 20k so far since I got it two years ago. I've still got a 2k respray to come as well :(
  18. no need mate, my carer has one for "quiet time"
  19. As long as your very careful you can use a small flat blade screwdriver to prize the chip off. I'd also recommend an antistatic wrist band just to be on the safe side, static can fry a chip instantly. EDIT: ONLY works on a socketed chip not a soldered one!
  20. Well I keep getting told that i'm "special" so maybe it's true :w00t:
  21. As above, I couldn't get on for ages :crying: Was it just me?
  22. Happy late birthday's lads :pint:
  23. Or he's having a Glee party with the girls
  24. looks a nice one Jane, try not to break it this time  :winkiss:
  25. The Hicas lines don't connect to the steering rack so you don't need to change it for an n/a one. The easiest way to bypass the fluid lines is by joining the two lines from the hicas solenoid to each other. Or you can get an n/a pot and n/a steering pump and fit them.
