Det Sensor
Can't tell you which plug it is exactly but it's a two pin connector at the back of the engine and the only loom part that goes down the back of the engine. The EGR valve may will be in the way (assuming you've still got one). Find the lead that is going into the middle of the engine at the back and follow it up to the connector. This will be the DET sensor cable as the sensor is bolted to the block in the valley between the cylinder heads. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Removing cowling?
It's fairly easy mate, been a little while since I did mine but basically it's wipers off then undo all the little plastic screws. You'll need to lift the bonnet for some and lower for others. The main problem you'll probably get is screws just turning but not coming out. Use a flat blade screwdriver to gently lift the screw while turning it and they'll come out. Halfords do plastic screws for the round ones but don't lose the rectangular ones as they are harder to replace. HTH
