It is each to there own indeed i know people that still run vista and swear by it but for the most part it was not compatible with older software and games upon release probably 99.9% sorted now through updates but i still change the odd one back to Xp when asked

I suppose at the end of the day its just an engine, but a complicated one at that i've had three local mechanics laugh when i enquired about them doing my gaskets, hence why im banking as much as poss until i reach a figure where i can hand it to Jeff and know it will come back fully sorted with a recon engine and full mot :)

Naaahhhh thats what i based it on (Vista) as i know that can struggle with low ram, i use an sp2 based xp-os but with vista elements like gauges and clocks, good to know W7 is not as gready for ram though!

would 7 not run slow with only 1gb of ram?

a sniffer test ? i've had one done on mine and it turned green (after some time) i believe that does indicate gasket failure but you may want to investigate further as Jeff say's :) Chris
