  1. generally even those that do need an sva are only minor problems ive put a couple through now and its been stuff like tyres, sharp edges, radio expander, kmph to mph calibrating speedo etc the problems start when its something thats never been tested before (new model) also kit cars can be a nightmare so you can put them through yourself at FAR LESS than what the approved places will charge you;)
  2. 10 years or over don't need an sva m8;)
  3. http://www.liverpoolportauctions.co.uk/ thats the liverpool one m8, not sure about the southampton one if you have trade plates just drive them off, ALTHOUGH if you have insurance you can drive it from the auctions "if your taking it straight to a test station" :nelson: i see loads driving them away and never seen anyone stopped YET
  4. yep no drastic drops really don't forget you have to add registration/mot and buyers premium at the auction so add approx £300 i regularly go to the one in liverpool and prices about the same, don't forget the MAJORITY of these are standard so still worth it in a lot of cases to buy one already imported and money been spent on, ie compare what say sgtc has bought and spent on his add up what it would cost you to do it:( private buyers can bid, just register your details with them and pay a deposit if your registered trade the buyers premium is approx half
  5. have to agree mostly with what Yampiedog says doesn't bother me in the slightest the amount of cctv cameras that are appearing, in fact how many of you purposely park in car parks/road where it is covered by camera? how many of you when people say about nuisance neighbours say "get video evidence" or are chuffed when some of these chavs are caught on camera on all the proggs' we all watch? and it leads to them being evicted, i have cameras protecting front and back of my house, any difference? we have people complaining about chavs and druggies, so why not let them do EVERYTHING possible to catch the scum?? ive also been grateful the stretch of motorway where my wife broke down was covered, as police were there in minutes yes it will be used for "fine" catching but no tax no mot/insurance then you take your chances, not sure about the arguement about being a day or two overdue, as it would probably take a week or so to issue the summons, so hopefully by that time you would be covered and common sense SHOULD be used in those cases, and if your still not covered then that arguement has gone i have to agree with paulg if they mean MORE cuts to police then NOOOOOOO if anything there should be more to enforce the evidence/charges against the scum, so old people can once again feel safe, or your not frightened to let your kids out how many of you run your own business? and use cctv, i cant wait for the day they invent a cctv with built in laser guided taser :nelson:
  6. shaggy?? no not an offer :nelson: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=14490&highlight=Summerlock
  7. always some good info here m8 bit of a minefield as ive always found different cameras give different results but this place is a good 'un to start from http://www.steves-digicams.com/flash_memory.html
  8. this any good m8? http://www.300zx.co.uk/cgi-bin/manual.cgi?list=el&dir=&config=&refresh=&direction=forward&scale=0&cycle=off&slide=89&design=default&total=133
  9. have to agree, my last 5-6 cars have ALL been imports and the pros FAR outgun the cons, all the cars ive bought from import have been SUPERB condition, even the insurance is not an issue now, if you look round you can find good deals (dependant on age etc) 99% of the time i would prefer to buy a 10-15 year old car from import than a uk
  10. hence i said a LARGE h/d lol as you say listening to your music on the pc while on the net you can listen to a lot of music, but 200 gig on the xbox in the car, much as i love my car i wouldnt like to think of the time you would have to sit and listen to it  rough calculation i think would mean you would have to sit in your car for nearly 3 months 24/7 lol the rest of your life may have been a SLIGHT ott lol, but who listens to the same albums for the rest of their lives?? ;)
  11. umm just plugged my lads xbox in as hes got a 360 now and it wont play mp3s from the drive (dvd disc) and couldn't test from the h/d as i can't find his controllers lol so best to check it will play them before getting it chipped m8 im pretty sure it will with the right dashboard, but as above not sure from the standard h/d, it will play wma files, have you tried those in yours?
  12. lol just altered it while you posted
  13. sorry altering my reply as i forgot about the 8 gig it comes installed with (i think it was) unless you mean on a dvd disc? in that case an average mp3 track is 4-5 meg at 128kbs, so a 4 gig plus dvdr is A LOT of tracks with a large h/d installed you wouldn't live long enough to listen to them all lol and coming from a h/d in the car they would be a lot more stable;) so the h/d is double a dvd disc (ish) i cant remember if you when chipped you can put mp3s on the standard h/d as always had the larger h/d put in them sorry
  14. doesnt matter what make the drive is to whether it can be chipped m8 the issue with the drives is some are crap for reading cheaper media if after a while your having problems with disc reading you can change the drive and no it wouldnt be able to be chipped while in the car m8, to awkward as you also want to play stored music files would be better if you had the larger h/d fitted at the same time, the cost of chipping and large h/d you maybe better buying a machine ready done
  15. and i KNOW what the majority wish you were :headvswal
  16. and your reply shows why its probably a good idea your not allowed to sell  funny though you state you've got rid of your Z's cos on the 4th of november you posted you were "in the process" of moving to a z and you have made numerous posts asking about martins   as you would find out if you need help/info it's easy to get but as stated autotrader/ebay etc etc you have to pay so £20 subscription for a years help/info and selling is not that bad
  17. repeated at 3am i THINK
  18. http://300zx-twinturbo.com/Articles/stillen/SMZ01.jpg info here m8 Exterior modification on the SMZ include a tall rear wing, new front air dam, side skirts, rear facia, and ducted air cleaner panel (the body panel between the headlights). Inside the car, carbon fiber cladding was found on the door handle surrounds, center console, and gear shift knob. Razo aluminum pedals were added as well. Engine modifications included a new intake manifold and air filter, a free flowing cat-back exhaust, and an extra 2-psi of boost. These changes resulted in 365 bhp @ 6500 rpm and 332 lb-ft torque @ 3500 rpm. Yokohama AVS tires and wheels were specified (255/40ZR17s up front on 9-in. rims and 275/35ZR18s on 9.5-in. rims on the rear). Rounding out the suspensions upgrades were stiffer springs and larger anti-sway bars.
  19. sorry i resent that implication, one is obviously stock the other modded i can produce a birth certificate to prove year of manufacture and that doesnt help PAULG's poll or question  and he asked people earlier in this thread to analyse the themes and trends among all superstars past and present he mentions new technologies That's just one aspect that is often introduced in superstars, but its not exclusive in that genre of man. I can list dozens of men of different genres that introduced new useful and non-useful technologies, and none of them are at all supertstars, let alone the Superstar elite, i was going to post some dna results to prove my point but could only find american ones
  20. SORRY YOUR WRONG you're selecting the opinion of one or two journalists as some canonical proof that any of them are superstars. There is nothing about a a superstar that indicates they are a superstar, nothing. Not even one drank a lot and the other drives a car that drinks a lot. Analyse the common design cues, useage of materials, relative performance, styling and construction methods to define what what superstar suits what genre. and i can produce graphs to prove my point SO THERE
  21. yep your right, but my attention stood up long enough to find THIS http://www.supercarworld.com/history2.html it does actually mention HISTORY OF THE SUPERCAR and NISSAN 300ZX and i can find 20-30 more references where others define it as a supercar, doesn't mean to say it is, but by the same token YOUR definition of the ZX means slightly less to me, and i would hold your posts to be more credible if ANY of them had done anything but slate the ZX we know its christmas and you've probably allowed on the net longer, 3 times you have now come on this forum to inform us what we are or not driving, so i shall have to have a serious think before i sleep tonight cos you said so, many thanks for putting me straight, i'll have a good think about my for sale advert
  22. lmao upset, why the hell would i be upset at YOUR opinion, your actually assuming i care what you think, so i won't make the mistake of putting question marks in this post and making it sound like i'm interested in a response, as i said you've never had a ZX and all that you spout is stuff published or posted on the web, so when you put yourself above people that have actually driven/owned the car your opinion is about as valid as an arsenal supporter going on a spurs forum and stating why you think they should listen  as i said your past posts on the forum started off telling us all how superior toymotors were, you state "nor do I make the comparisons through ignorance" now if NEVER HAVING DRIVEN something you claim to be an authority on is not ignorance then i'm off to do a degree on 20 subjects i know jack about, whether the zx is a supercar or not, one thing is clear you aint no expert FACT!!!!!!!!!
  23. you also do a very fine job of talking nothing but shite every time you appear, i remember your first post on this forum, and decided then you were going to be as interesting as crown paints chief paint drier watcher, i must admit i was wrong, your not AS interesting, why would we be interested in anything you say? you have never had a ZX, your never going to have one, so your posting on here because?????????
  24. yes m8 its just the signal being lost between one or the other as you say just a case of plugging in whichever your using or if a pain to get to every time, a switchable box, you may find you can leave a couple plugged in, anyway nothing to worry about m8, its not a fault your end, just a common problem
