Havn't done a compression test yet :nelson: although that will tell me a lot. As for oil pressure, according to my after market guage, at adle I get around 90+PSI cold and around 20ish+ PSI hot.

I never really wanted to mention this (cus I’m fooking skint and wedding only a few month’s away) but touching wood isn’t helping much :nelson: Right, to start, I get a little smoke on start up in the morning so I’m gussing valve stem seals :confused: I also get smoke out of the offside (and very occasionally the nearside) Zorst at idle but the PCV’s and pipes are reasonably new (CheerZ Duffers;)) I also get a very slight knock at start up from cold from the bottom end just before the oil pressure builds up. So I’m thinking, heads off, new valve stem seals, tubs refurbished and possibly new big end bearings. So my question is, can all this be done with engine in situ (as I don’t have engine out facilities) I would like to do it myself with the help of me dad and what gaskets etc. would be needed and also how hard of a job and coin it’s gonna cost me of course ? But bear in mind this is my daily drive, but I’m considering a shed to drive around in until the work is done. CheerZ Paul

Yeah, when I plumbed in my EBC wrong :nelson: I was hitting a max of around 18+PSI went like fooking stink though so at 20+ or even 30+ HOLD ON !

What is the MAX pressure a stock tub could deliver without the wastegate opening, would it be infinity (and beyond LOL) utill it blew itself to bits ????

Hmmmm, yes, but is it possible for stock turbos to deliver that kind of pressure Andy even if the wastgate was stuck closed ?

This is getting a little confusing, so the gauge Jeff used, your EBC and aftermarket ??? boost guage ALL showed 30+PSI initially and then it dropped to 20 odd. For me it is hard to grasp that this is possible albeit it could be bur unlikeley. Like Andy said, could you post up a picture of your boost gauge at all ?

Not happy, not too much bothered about stuff that was stolen, laptop, brand new 1 week old digital camera, Wii, 4 remotes, 4 nunchuks, about 16 games mic basically everyting, thing is all the Wii stuff was still in a massive Morisons carrier bag as we got it back off a mate we lent it to a few days ago so it was there and waiting. Also took a load of the Mrs jewelry and other 'ready to hand' bits and bobs. About 1.5k worth in total. They left the PC and monitor etc. LCD TV, DVD, Sky + box and other things so wern't here very long. We are getting married in Aug this year and we have a large tin just for putting money in (£1, £2, £5 and £10) that has approx £250 - £300 and a big glass bowl with all shrapnel in it with around £100 - £150 or so in it and they left that. It's not the stuff that got niked it's knowing some fooker has been in ya fooking house that pisses me off :( :hurl: All insured anyway

I had a similar noise with my Sylvia some years ago, it didn't sound like det at all. It turned out to be the exhaust manifold was loose as half the studs had been striped and I could hear the turbo spinning, quite loud it was too :shock: Could be that but on the other had could be det, difficult to say really withou hearing it

Well answer to your 1st Q is no :p But in answer to the rest, I would DEFFO take, or even get them to pick up and, take the car back to the garage that did the work ! and get it sorted

b19rks, can you get hold of these plugs ?

You got me thinking hard now :eek: I "think" I may have bought a set of ZFR7F-11 off Chunk many years ago, now they are the colder copper plugs right ? and I'm sure they were about 3 quid a pop but have reduced milage. I may have to reconsider what plugs I'm gonna buy now !
