  1. ok an update on today tasks. checked the cas unit and all 6 injectors are firing when the cas is rotated. now we tried taking the fuel pipe off and cranking over the engine and found there was no fuel delivery.(has had new pump fitted) what we did was using the tech article we bypassed the fuel pump ecu. chranked over and had fuel being fed to the fuel rail which was a result. now we still are getting a code 21 and went round checking and cleaning connectors. so far illiminated cleaned water temp sensor cleaned tps sensor connector checked spark with spare coil pack and plug (spark being delivered to each coil pack but not each coil pack individually etsted) ptu (tried my series2 known working one) maf (tried my known working one) cas (cleaned and check injector clicking on each cylinder) spark being delivered to coilpacks. fuel now being delivered to rail what we did find was that the ecu had some water marks over it, eg some rust in the flow direction across body of ecu. we took it out to inspect for internal water damage which there was non visable but what we did find was that the ecu had been socketed with a socket and a superchip eprom fitted, now the soldering is a lot to be desired so i have recommended that he try a stock ecu before we go any further in our investigation. cheers for you help jeff gaz
  2. thank you very much jeff for the detailed reply ;) your a star *
  3. right i have been trying to help someone with his z which stopped starting a while back now it turns over fine. he has replaced fuel pump cleaned alot of the connectors now i went over there today to have a look firstly there is a code 21 which is ignition system circuit. Malfunction Caused By:The ignition signal in the primary circuit is not entered during engine cranking or running. check :Harness and connector Power Transistor Unit now i tried my series 2 ptu on his car reset the ecu which i thought was long enough (10 mins) and tried again. it still gives a code 21 we did eventially manage to get a little cough out of the ol gal before that battery went flat but thats it!! now i said that we will try her tomorrow with a full battery and allow the ecu to forget overnight. what i was thinking was would a tt start with a non turbo ecu? what i was tinking was to take my ecu over to illiminate it from the equation.
  4. are you running stock power and are you looking to increase it in the future? stock clutch for stock power but would consider upgrading if you intend to start playing with it. contact mike feeney at mjp eastern auto for stock clutch or danny @ dta for performance versions they are both traders on the club :)
  5. would agree. suppose it takes a while to fix a z LOL
  6. reckon its a mugwi and been splashed with water. going to get gremlins if i feed her after midnight!!!!
  7. so a bodyshop job then. bugger bugger bugger!!! :(
  8. probably.... but why would it appear now . been fine since i have owned it till now :( whats an average respary cost these days for a good job in original colour. will get some pics when i next go to garage
  9. dont know. the reason i put my car in my garage before xmas was to fix my gearbox. its been sat there doing nothing since (while i do the work on the gearbox) gathering dust. what im saying is i cleaned off some of the dust to check the paint and i found these bubbles.
  10. it hasnt been painted its the original paint as far as my ownership is concerned (since 2005) what your suggesting is new paint reacting with old paint which it cannot be .... im gutted!
  11. its UNDER the paint mate:( if i compound them off i would end up with bare metal  thank you for the input tho mate appreciated :)
  12. right now my z has been off of the road for a while and has been kept in a dry lockup while i try and do the work on the gearbox. now its getting a bit dusty and the other day i check to see if everything is ok with the paint (call it paranoid) anyway i think i have found a problem.......... what i seem to have on a section of paint on the roof is what i can describe as tiny bubbles (not rust) but at first glance looks like overspray on the t-top and mid roof section.you have to look really closely to see them but on closer inspection i can press the bubbles as if the are air!!! these are tiny about 0.5 mm diameter but there are loads of them  wtf is it?!?!?!?!
  13. sounds exactly like the problem i had ;)
  14. Rare steering wheel on it too.
  15. might sound daft but have you tried cleaning the water temp sensor? if it thinks its hot it wouldnt run enrichment map to cold start, might be another place to try. had this problem on my daily driver , replaced the water temp sensor and it starts on the button every time now
  16. mine is a 7" touchscreen double din unit from hong kong and i can say for the money its great!
  17. nice one. a lot of junk in the wings isnt there!!
  18. bloody hell thats a long time to be traumatized by a couple of fingers up the ass!!
  19. its not bad tbh. i have used it on my z and was able to get right into the panels and sills with trim removed. it dont go very far tho and two tins would probably be required to give a though coating of both rear /front sills
  20. it all helps thanks mate :thumbup1:
  21. I know I started it. Obviously I didnt get all the info I wanted ;)
