  1. Well....further to my last thread....my clutch gave up the ghost on Sunday...mwarrr... :( But I spent a pleasant hour () sitting on the side of the A329M watching drifting lorries and cars wandering across the lanes into the hard shoulder while I sat on the grass praying for them not to hit my car, waiting for AA to show up... So...symptoms were as follows : Driving along at a comfortable 70mph (honestly), revs suddenly slipped up to 5000rpm. Lost power - was almost like the car was in neutral. Pulled over to hard shoulder. Turned off engine after a wee idle for the turbos. Re-started engine, put car in gear, foot on accelerator and smoke poured out from under the car - driver's side - visible via the wheel arch along with the smell of toasted clutch... :( No noise, no screaming (from the car :)), nothing... Wouldn't even bite to get onto the tow truck. So - how much of my clutch has gone? Or is there something else I need to be aware of as well?
  2. We were pacing ourselves... :p ;)
  3. Oh so it's my fault as well now...? :D :D Damn, it's good to be back. :D ;)
  4. Oooh....What is this - "Pick on Ajay Week"? ;) :p:p:p :D
  5. America will listen to you. ;) Sue for mental stress or something. :D Let's face it, they funded the project to see what substances affect spider brains and their construction of webs under same... :D
  6. SWB - Short Wheel Base (Ie - no "back seats") NA - Normally Aspirated. :D
  7. Agree with you...I grew up playing with golliwogs as they were my mum's from HER childhood and not once did I equate them with "black people" as so many people do today. Trouble with children's "politcial correctness" is that the adults see the supposed corruption, the children see the toy. I always remember one of the Creature Comfort ads that Nick Park did with the Orangs in - they were discussing the fact that the teenage daughter of one of them always wanted her jeans washing NOW etc...and the various merits or de-merits of having teenage children.... There were 17 complaints about this saying that it showed "black people" in a derogatory fashion......I mean...a-bluh?? HOW??? World gone mad.... Anita.
  8. Yes - agree - the cambelts should be changed regularly - I change mine every year, whether it needs it or not! :) Mainly because I have a bill in my service history from the previous owner who forgot to change the cambelt and it went, taking his engine with him. If you have a Turbo model - an oil change is good every year or 3000 / 6000 miles or so. Good servicing and maintainance is worth its own weight in gold. :D
  9. If you were buying a few years ago, there'd be no way on this earth that you'd get what you're after...I paid just over £11K for mine....now however, they are a reasonable price. You never know - you may get lucky. :D Keep searching. :) Anita.
  10. They are not back seats - they are excuse for back seats. :D So saying, I have had a 6'2" 18stone bloke in the back on a journey that lasted about an hour. He was a wee bit uncomfy but fitted. UK specs are 2+2 - the SWB are import only. :)
  11. I haven't had much aggro with my car at all... :D Usual PTU issue, new turbos (Warranty) and a clutch that's looking as though it will need replacing soon, but in over 4 years of ownership, I don't consider that to be bad... :D :D :D :D mode> :D :D :D :D
  12. Also I seem to recall that the interior of the later Zeds isn't a patch on the interior that we all know and love now... Someone must have a picture of it somewhere, I'm sure. :)
  13. Sorry Mike... :( That's what comes of Muppeting over on the Subaru forum...you lose all sense of grammar, sentence structure and general English usage. :D :p I promise I'll take better care of it in the future. :)
  14. :D :D :D Man, I make ONE post in error.... ;)
  15. LOL...yep - you definitely deserve to wear the crown for a bit...I'm sure I'll get it back soon. :D :D ;)
  16. Yeah, I can...ok so it's "chicken's teeth" as well...there are 2 more, but am not going to be gauche enough to point out my own mistakes... :D :D Craig - you should have your cheque tomorrow :D Oh! for the power to edit... :D :D :D :p
  17. My apologies...I missed out an "a". :p:p:p:p My Pedant Queen title has become tarnished in my absence - I will endeavour to polish it back up to its gleaming standard. :D ;)
  18. Apprently, according to one write up on the old forum...a UK TT low mileage, un-modified, manual Z32 is as rare as chickens teeth. Just as well I've got one! :D :D (unmodded apart from exhaust, shocks and stuff - but basically standard. :D)
  19. Imports are not necessarily a bad buy. I PERSONALLY did not want an import, purely because I wouldn't know the service history and the conversion hassle, but many on here have imports.
  20. Ditto. Good luck in your search and remember not to plump for the first one you see without a check over! :) It took me about 9 - 10 months of viewing Fairlady's and TTs to find my baby. My criteria was pretty much the same - HAD to be UK, HAD to be Turbo'd, HAD to be well looked after. Found plenty of the first 2, but only 1 of the latter. :D And I got her! :D Good luck and I hope you find what you want! Anita.
  21. :D Once the Zed settles into a good working pattern, you'll find that you need shares in Optimax. :D Of course, you could drive like a granny in it...that wouldn't use as much go-go juice..... :D ;)
  22. Well, if the image of the Zed is tarnished, or "dimming" a little, just behold the wonders that Japcar is doing for the GTO... :) :D You can put me on your list, should you wish, Japcar, I take lessons from dishwater in being dull. :D :D :D
  23. Cheers Smithy....my moby's in the car, which is incredibly helpful, so I'll text you my number in a bit... :)
  24. So....not just me, then. :D :D
  25. Ok - this is what stuns me....people appearing and going "meh - because you're not nice, I'm not buying THIS car that I've always wanted" a-bluh??? Or am I missing something here???
