Just a thought but when I had my recent episode with my car not starting, Jeff told me about a car with a simular problem. The first time it started, it ran lumpy for the first 10 seconds then was fine for the rest of the day. They worked it out to be the Fuel pump ECU. Nuce and easy to swap out and test.

Depending on date, I may be up for this. Not been there for a while.

Fuel Pump ECU. I left the replacement fuel pump in as it doesn't whine like the old one.

Well its going again ! More parts arrived today fron Jeff (and a quick run to Zedworld for a fuse), plugged in the fuel pump ECU and it started straight away ! Thanks Jeff for the parts, excellent service as usual.

I did this with the wife's SIM when she went from the iphone 3 to 4. She wouldn't wait the 3 days for the micro SIM to arrive. Make sure your duaghter has a data tariff otherwise it could get expensive.

Nick Thanks for that, hopefully the parts I need will arrive from Jeff tomorrow. How much do you want for the engine bay loom as it could do with repalcing anyway?

As the thread has gone on such a tangent, I once had a Landrover Series II and dropped a spanner in the engine. It managed to lodge near the starter motor resulting in it having power ! luckily when the engine started, it was in neutral. 5 minutes earlier it was in first ... Very lucky as 1m forward was the living room with me between. Back on subject, will try calling Nissan tomorrow and If Jaikai sends his spare, I should get it sorted soon. Unless someone closer comes up with one.

Thanks FireMAN999 not seen this site before. Once I get the fuse sorted, if it still won't start, I will give this a try.

A friend came to help me jump start the Zed as the batter is flat. Unfortunately he put the leads on the wrong way on his van. Result was smoke from the fuse box. Pulled the cables and removed the fuse but where do I get a replacement from ? Its the one furthest from the fuel pump. Mine is blue with a loop of thick wire on top. The wire has melted. Hopefully that is all that its done. Does anyone have a spare ? I really need to get it going for tomorrow.

Is this on the Zed or the Saxo ? Didn't know the Zed had a cut off switch.

Well I have changed the Relay and the pump and .... nothing ! Still won't start and I cannot hear the fuel pump initialising. What the hell do I check now ?!?!?

Parts arrived today, so that is my weekend sorted... Thanks Jeff for getting them to me so quickly.

Thanks Smithy, I will check that tonight. Jeff is sending me a pump so if it isn't the realy my weekend will be to strip the sound deadening out (without cutting my fingers to shreds like last night) and replacing the pump. Is there an easy way to test the relay ?

A Very nice AA man (subcontractor) came and had alook at the car this evening. After checking for fuel getting to the engine bay, found nothing getting to the filter inlet. Quick lookm for the pump but couldn't find it, so called his mate in Daventry who owned a Zed (someone from here ?). Think it is under a load of sound deadening so going to have fun removing that. Already cut fingers from trying for a minute or two. Where abouts is the pump ? Is it easy to get to ? Jeff - Can you give me a price for a pump please (email sent as well)
