  1. I completely understand where your coming from alex. I am in the procces of spending hours of time and still shed loads more money putting things right that weren't wrong or were there and now arn't on my car after so call experts how made it better. i think the problem is that these garages have too many jobs going on at once and know for a fact that if there waiting for bits for you car and working on another Z they'll borrow bits from yours to see if thats the problem with the other car. After a while and the longer your car is there. They forget which bits were yours and which bits weren't and if like my car it was very staight it ends up being cobbled back to gether like most of the other ratty Z's out their. Well let face it how did they get that ratty in the first place. The real anoying bit though is that even time spent on your car returning bits that they have taken off it for the purpose of someone elses car. You know will be on your bill. Still looking for a good Z garage. Think if its some thing I cannot do myself I try Ryan next time as everyone seems to be giving him the thumbs up at the mo.
  2. Yep Mark you need to hire a engine crain to lift it in and out of the car or van. + It makes life easier to get it on the engine stand as sufflkzx says. They arn't expensive to hire for a weeked and you only really need one twice durring the operation. Still would go V8 though If I where in your shoes. That way you'll have years of big power to enjoy rather than years of big bangs, incredible highs and unbelievable lows + a hole in your bank account big enough to fit a house.
  3. A bust *****ck broken toes and knuckles that now drag on the floor. Its a real heavy SOB so help of a strong friend (hello sailor) is essential
  4. I find that any thing lower than 36psi all round and she slides around too much. Mind you I do drive like a whore all the time so 36 all round if it suits your driving style. When I had stock wheels I always ran 40psi all round so its up to you to check out how it suits your driving style. If you drive her hard all the time you'll wear the out side edges of your tyres off just as if they were under inflated. So tyre wear is a good indicator as to how much presure you need for your driving style. + If you live in the city you carn't have her on the edge that often, but us country bumkins are on the edge as soon as the motor is warm.
  5. Hi Mark Having just gone? Still going through all the crap improving my engine power and realiseing the money I've spent and the complexity and fragility of any turbo charged engine ie too many vairiables that can result in a sudden tremination. I would not under take it again. I honestly believe that the V8 transplant root is much cheeper, much easier to do yourself (I personally would go for the small block Ford 5.5Ltr V8 which will give reliable big grunt and the worlds best sound track for about £3K) Its more reliable, lighter, smaller and easier to work on.+ There are supercharger kits that come complete with everything you wil need for as little as £1200 that can see you pushing 600bhp if thats what you want. it also leave more room under the bonnet to let the air flow better.
  6. I went though this exercise about two years ago and found several things out and one is that stick on number plates only became illegal after 1997 so any car built prior to that date can still bare a stick on number plate because you cannot apply the law retrospectively. Many lotus cars were manufactured to have sick on plates. All Healy Sprites, Daimler Darts and Jenson Healys had em as standard and are still legal. The other thing that I found out as long as it is legible from normal pedestrian view point at ("carn't remember wether it said 30,50 or 60 mtrs, but i'm sure some smart arse will correct me") then the angle of the dangle so to speek is not specified. Well thats my view and i've got a stick on number plate and I'm sticking to it,so there.
  7. Is that before you Text your sister inlaw or before she forwards it to your wife.  Seriously I heard about a friends neighbour who did just that. You know how we all have big sod off lists of contact names in our phones. Well apparently he wrote out a steamy text about what he was going to do to her, then sent it to his sister inlaws name (which was immediately below his wifes) by mistake, but because he was driving he didn't realise and quite happily walk in the front door some 3 hours later, expecting his wife to be primed and in her sexy undies. What he actually walked into was his brother inlaws fist, his wife and sister screaming what a dirty rotten ******* he was while hurling his belongings at him. I've not heard if its been sorted ,but last I heard was that the poor begger has a broken tooth and heart.
  8. Don't let them take the locking rod off, they did this on mine and it [1], makes it negate the cat 1 status and therefor you insurance as if you have a crash and you lose power you carn't get out. Neither can you if the alarm plays up. Also this is not true as it will work off existing motor. They did this to mine and I am now trying to get new rods so I can have a Cat 1 install.
  9. Well I've just had mine removed because it has caused so much trouble. There are many garages now refusing to work on cars that have clifford Alarms fitted. I hope you didn't get it from GAP  and I hope you don't have trouble with it. I would never look at another Clifford and especially after looking on the Directelectric wed site to read how the Clifford products should be installed, because it would take about a full day to fit properly and most auto sparks just won't do it as it should be done. ie All conectors should be gold plated or soldered and heat shrunk, alam unit and ancillaries should be bolted either under back seat,in boot or under passenger seat. They say any loose or bad conection etc will result in the system thinking your car has been nicked and just imobilize it at 7 diferent points and can only be reset with a laptop and clifford soft ware. Its cost me over a £1K to get it all put right and still sorting bits. Sorry to worry you.
  10. Sounds good to me Tom Look Chris we all understand why you left ya passport in the airing cupboard and I told you the ink wouldn't be dry   Here here I'm up for it. You sound like you had an adventure that will be retold for many years. Glad ya got back safe and sound and I have to add that the guys on this board for the most part are top.

  12. Oh Yes I almost forgot Would anyone be up for a September meet/ Weekend thing. I mean maybe Friday night Hamsterdam, Saturday meet and Sunday Nuremburg Ring??? Monday home
  13. Just been Reading this as I was supposed to be among the people going to this and was well cheesed of I could make it. I'm sorry I missed every one and I was wondering if Blacky was infact a Yorkshire man. Him being blunt and forthright. I understand what he's saying and being a Yorky who has spent most of his time outside of Yorkshire I know how I've tempered my comments so as not to cause offence, because even on this little Island of ours each region uses the language differently. However I've traveled extensively across Europe and we Brits forget that its a big place. + The locals speek strangely even when we know the language. So I understand that Blacky thinks that maybe Chris was a little irresponsible to embark on such a trip without being better prepared. However Blacky I want to point out that Chris had a lot of crap to sort out just to get there at all and put unbelievable efforts in to make it. I know because on the Wednesday night I was at his house after all the Garages had closed. Trying in vain till 22.00 hours to make a heater matrix byepass out of anything we had lying around. You might think that if he knew he had a few problems the he shouldn't have come, but Chris C's car wasn't ready due to garage being busy, Mac's car is not finish, due to garage going tits up (I know how that feels) My car wasn't ready due to believe it or not a shit load of problems cause by a clifford alarm system or should I say installer. + several other people who had fallen out due various reasons. Knowing how much effort certain people had put into this and not wanting to let people down Chris soldiered on. So you see Blacky, if Chris C's car had been fixed Chris wouldn't have felt that to not go would let him down. + All the others who organised it and had my car had been ready he could have come with me. So now maybe you understand why your comments although correct will have rattled Chris. One thing that has come from this is we need some better lines of comunication for the next time. ie phone numbers etc or things like a rolling convoy. So that 5 minutes after the last car has moved to the front then the new last car moves to the front. That way should know one pass for 5 minutes we know there is a problem and you aint got far to go back. Anyway Chris when you want to put your new heater martix in give me a shout and I'll give you a lift with it.
  14. Nar your just fishing for compliments because you know your car looks sweet. However, be warned! After next winter when my explosion wide arse goes on my car. All you Strosek boys are going to want to change to the explosion arches. I tell you they're the future.
  15. Yes I believe so. I should make that one.
  16. I know where it is I used to take steel into Gorseinon. Its a bit far for me to come and show you how to bleed her though. Sorry

Chris is winging his way back from Holland this moment and I would think he would still be up for this and if someone tells me just where it is I'll get there in my Z
  18. what side skirts are those. They look very suttle and if your getting rid I maybe interested at the right price.
  19. Bubbles. Where abouts in Wales are you? Anywhere near Wrexham?
  20. Well if you check my rides section out you'll see that I've spent my money on handling and usable power rather than rights to the pi55ing contest. Along with a good few other guys on here we are talking serious money and comittment. Which would be nice to have rewarded in a feature.
  21. Yep I agree. It can take up to two hours to bleed em some times especially if you have a standard rad as the get full of crap. Your just going to have to put the heater on full and use the bleed screw on the O/S of the rad to bleed it out. Good luck.
  22. You heading back up this way again. I'd heard that you'd been banished from the Principality for voicing disaproval over the local Angelsey past time of ewe sticking and house warming parties they throw for none perminant residents.  And cheers Yas and Leigh. You have no ideal how good it felt to drive her the other day even with most of the dash out.
  23. Yes Oh Great One   Your mapping was spot on and it was down to my inept injector instalation :slap: . I kept checking the bottom rings and never thought about the top rings because they looked OK. On close inspection though they were split on the seem. I can take the plenum off and put it back on blindfolded now. So fingers crossed and thanks for the help.
  24. Looks well worth the wait Steve. I'm well chuffed for ya. Hey mines running sweetly and just awaiting a few elecy bits and bobs + body shop touch ups. I'm at Leons on Thursday for my system fitting. So we'll have to have a meet up shortly.
