Car Cover recommendations
I'm after a new cover for the Z. Have a Halfords one that is a good fit but the rodents got at it when I left it on the floor instead of in the bag and now looks like swiss cheese! Any recommendations. Want a good quality robust one. Thanks

Poorly running Z out of hibernation.
Thanks Andrew. Appreciate the details. I’ve had the coil pack and plug out on cylinder 4. Checked both with multimeter and both ok. Checked spark was getting to plug using a spare plug, ok. Can’t seem to gain access to injector, not aided by the strut brace. Spark Plug from Z is a little bit more carbon coated than I’d expected and probably due a change. Connectors all look good and clean. I only use the car on dry days and it’s garaged. I have checked other connections and all seem ok. disconnected o2 sensors and MAF and didn’t seem to make any difference. Left battery disconnected and tried again, no change. just idles very rough and still seems like misfire. Ran data’s an again and dropped cylinder 4 out and it was not as notable this time. So I wonder if my cleaning the plug to get a multimeter test on it might have helped. I’ll change the plug and see. Whilst having a good poke around I found a coolant leak at the back of the plenum. The hole is very small and actually in a metal part just above what I think is the EGR. All looking a bit wet and rusty back there(can’t remember how to post pictures). I’ve topped up coolant and put a bit of epoxy over hole to seal it temporarily. Has stopped leak but still runs rough. I can hear what seems to be a hissing /air escaping noise around where cylinder 4 is. Could not pin point it. This plus fact I couldn’t get boost leak tester to read higher than 4 psi makes me think boost leak? Does that affect it at idle? where should I be checking for boost leaks other than the major pipes on show at the front? Thanks for the help so far.

Poorly running Z out of hibernation.
Update. I’ve got datascan running and it seems cylinder 4 is not firing properly. With the car idling, I’ve shut off each cylinder one at a time and there seems no notable difference to the Lumpy idle when shutting off cylinder 4. I guess next step is check coil packs ? Is it worth posting the data scan file for someone who knows the details to look at? Ive also got a boost leak detector now but I can’t get pressure above about 4 psi with the foot pump or electric tyre pump. So either it’s a case of simply not being able to get the pressure up with those pumps or the gauge is not working(doubtful as it does move and is brand new from CZP, what pressure I do get in does release smoothly), or I have a major leak as well. Not entirely sure where I should be checking. My aim is to make sure it’s not something easily fixable and if not that it’s ok to drive carefully c 50 miles to Bristol to get Jimmer to give it some TLC. 17 years of largely trouble free ownership means I’ve never had to learn to fix anything other than a temp sensor and plug in a new ECU! I should be thankful I guess. Any input welcome. Thanks.

Poorly running Z out of hibernation.
Got the Z out last weekend after it's winter hibernation and it fires up fine and drives ok under light to moderate load. However, when asking for more power it judders and runs rough, seemingly misfires and does not boost. I do tend to let it turn over and drive up the road every now and then on dry days in winter to avoid it being stood completely for several months. I have been very lucky with the car as I have owned it 17 years and had only one major failure, ECU. My first thought was the turbos but there is no smoking or obvious leak from what I can see. Seems more like a misfire related issue. Looking for a bit of a 'checklist' to run through some obvious things at home. I fear a rodent or two may have taken up residence in the car over winter and got at something! It is due a trip to Jimmer for some TLC but I'd like to see if it's something obvious first so I can drive it there. Thanks.

Door lock issue- whirring noise.
Bit of an odd one, the drivers side door lock motor seems to keep whirring when I have unlocked it and started the car. Passenger side doesn't seem to unlock now. If I reach over and flick the lock button on the passenger door the whirring stops. Have to remember to manually lock the passenger door externally. I need to take the door card off on drivers door to rewire the mirror, so is there something I should be looking for? anyone had similar issue?

wing mirror rebuild...comedy
Thought it worth sharing for some light entertainment at my expense... After telling the step lad to be careful with football, I then manage to kick the ball ( as I slipped...honest!) from about 15 yards away from the car and it hits the wing mirror in the exact right spot to snap it off! clean break on the metal mount! It was a size 3 as well  Child in background laughing uncontrollably at the irony of this. I then trawl ebay for a suitable replacement, knowing that I will have to get it sprayed to match the non standard metallic black. A medicinal ale or two later and having calmed down, I realise that the it's just the metal bit that pivots the mirror that's snapped, the case is in good order! Eureka moment..I just need the internals and can rebuild it! A few more ales later, I find a fairly knackered looking red one with scuffed case and cracks.. still overpriced at the best part of £40 but the internals are what I need. Click...done. More ale. Wing mirror arrives few days later... I strip both, rebuild it and add back to the car this morning. Pat myself on back for a job well done. Fueled by this success and a San Miguel, I log back on to 300zx. co.uk after an absence, renew membership, spots a member in need of part I think I have.... feeling good I can help, I log on to photobucket to get picture of the part.... sees photo of two black electric wing mirrors... remembers they are in they are in the garage just in case they are needed :blushing:

J Spec driver side electric wing mirror
preferably in metallic black / flat black, however i'm resigned to having it sprayed so any colour ok if it's in good condition.

Black SWB 1996 Ebay
Looks like a very tidy example but I don't think the wheels do it justice. Quite a price isn't it?!

Wiring up head unit
It's been years since I last did this and the head unit has been out of my car for over a year. There is no quick connecting block so would appreciate someone giving me a quick reminder on what wires are what in the back of my dash or a diagram. Its a J spec if that makes any difference.

OEM Shagpile Mats
I have set available if anyone is interested. Good condition with no rips or tears and little wear as I have done less than 2k miles a year in it since I bought in 13 years ago. I'll give them a good clean and post some pics if there is some interest.

Few pics of the Z after some winter work
Thanks. The door cards have been done in leather and the vinyl replaced with alcantara ( bitten off rather a lot) lovely stuff but hard to work with! Front lip is a car mad one I forgot I bought years ago and had it, along with the twinz sides, carbon dipped with a Matt finish. Rear bumper is a xenon and I have toyed with getting a twinz rear diff to fit but as is for a standard rear it will need someone with some good body shops skills to sort!

Few pics of the Z after some winter work
As its not raining for once the Z came out of the garage for a bit. Few pics of some of the ongoing work. Front lip and Twinz side skirts fitted today and some pics of the ongoing interior re trim .
