manual gearbox and speedo spindle
Hi all, still having probs with speed signal i.e they`re ain`t one! speedo is fine sensor is fine, wiring is fine as all works when out of car according to the mechanic,is it possible that the drive gear on the gearbox shaft has worked loose? I notice it`s locked/held in place via a steel ball,do these break at all leading to the gear spinning on the shaft itself? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Vandals and last night
As a bit of consolation,I too had a break in and attempted theft about three years ago now and tues i get a phone call from the police informing me they`ve finally got the fella after running some old jobs through the new system. He`s currently in pentonville for a similar offence, serves him right for being a dick and not having the foresight to wear gloves, now he`ll be there a touch longer.I only had an immobiliser at the time so got a toad system, no probs since.

Sill query
Hi peeps! I know this has been discussed but a search fails to reveal to me where EXACTLY the exit points for the front targa drains are,is it just as the rears and part of the jacking point or somewhere else? I ask because have just finished undersealing and have noticed two 1/4" ish inch holes adjacent to one another in the area of the drivers footwell and am a touch bemused as there are none on pass side.I would really appreciate some advice as upon a check i noticed i`d blocked one of the rears and don`t wish a repeat :xxx: p.s any uk owners i`d recommend checking around the fuel filler (inner) rust and crud ahoy! Cheers!!

problem changing speed sensor,any suggestions?
My worry exactly, don`t want to start wrestling and have the wheel snap off,it does only appear to come out two thirds ish of the way though with not enough angle to manouver past the car body, i can`t seem to find an angle that will work without undue force and then of course i would still have to fit the new one in anyway, very frustrating as one of my last jobs to do on it,may have to concede and pay somebody unless i`m lucky. Thanks for your input, much appreciated

problem changing speed sensor,any suggestions?
Hi all,am i missing something?Trying to change the sensor on my uk manual, managed to unbolt it and remove to a point but the damn thing hasn`t got enough clearance to pull free,is it a case of havin to drop the box a bit to give enough room or givin the surrounding body work a tap to create a contoured area or do i just use the force!?

Whining noise, an ideas ?
does an auto have any sort of gaitor or such that may have come loose?
-
grinding/gurgling-ish noise in 2nd and 4th
aye i agree with the gaiter, mine used to do this as you pull gear lever back it tugs on the rubber (behave yourselves!) exposing the gearbox noise, drove me nuts, don`t forget there`s an upper and a lower gaitor.Good luck :)

uk speedo probs need heeelp
My speedo has been playing the jumping game @ 40mph then up to 60 etc, have been able to rectify in past by tapping the head with cover off.I've researched posts and thought i'd give resoldering a go, have reconnected, turned ign to acc, the needle jumped to 40 and reset itself,ok i thought, left it cos dark, today needle straight round to 180..ain`t budging, this is before the car`s even started, moved it to zero by hand..nothing,have borrowed a set of clocks in past, all worked ok so not the sensor, will check connections again but methinks tis buggered, any ideas anyone?
