atmospheric dump valves (the ones you can hear) are rarely used as standard because a) its down to choice whether you like them or not, and b) recirculating valves (that you cant hear unless theyre fooked) make the car a tiny tiny bit faster when changing up. i have them on mine and love the sound of them - its just the 'boy racer' stereotype that lets them down

just in lieu of trying other suggestions - try unplugging your HDD altogether, then outside the base unit unplug everything except power, monitor, and keyboard, and see how far you get with that. if you still cant get into BIOS then make sure video card is seated firmly in the socket, its probably worth checking the RAM chips are seated too. if you do manage to get it to start booting up but still suspect an HDD problem, then turn it off straight away and look for recovery options (such as plugging drive into another PC as a second drive and copying your files), as while booting up and through normal use, Windows will be writing stuff all over the shop and (if there's a disc problem) over your valuable files.

Ive got a set of Wilwood front calipers and bigger discs to go up front. while im sure this will meet all my needs for 'normal' driving, what about the rear? do i leave it standard, upgrade it to the same spec, or go for something inbetween?

i guess its because on average the Z is the oldest of the cars in that 'group', and isn't designed as a street tuner, therefore not appearing in films or on track as much as the others, and therefore not getting as much attention. if a Z was winning Le Mans and BTCC then it would be the king of the road and everyone would want one! all cars from the GTO to the Evo, from the RX-7 to the Poop, from the Scoob to the MR2, all have their own good points, but in my honest (completely unbiased opinion ;) ) the Z is the best average. perhaps thats what makes it the 'grey man' and therefore overlooked.
