  1. Dave, I'll have the delimiter off you if Apache doesn't take it. Let me know Thanks Leonard
  2. Please can someone advise- I just picked up a newly imported SWB TT Manual. What is the best/ most reliable way of delimiting & converting KPH to MPH, without changing the instrument cluster. Thanks Leonard
  3. Brian, you can get a special socket for taking the locking nuts off. My local Halfords sell a set of 2 for £9.99. They have a heavy reverse thread cut sharply into the inside which grips the outside of the locking nut. (It does state on the pack that they're for use with an air impact wrench but you might get it with a big tommy bar) http://www.lasertools.co.uk/home.htm Click on "Brilliant Tools" icon half way down the page, then click "Servicing" then click "wheels" the product numbers are 3291- 2 piece set 3464-4piece set Good luck, Leonard
  4. I picked this info up from a brake factors catalogue. ( I ordered TT discs and one was wrongly boxed, it was an N/A 26mm disc. When the guy checked it against the catalogue it stated that the 26mm discs were only fitted to early NAs, but I'm sure it's possible for early discs/ calipers to find their way onto later cars though the catalogue could also have the wrong info)
  5. Hi- N/A from 89 till mid 90 were fitted with 26mm thick discs. From about Aug 90 on both N/A and TT had the same (30mm thick) discs
  6. If the wheels are too hot to touch it sounds like you have sticking or siezed calipers. Warped discs alone would not generate that amount of heat under normal driving conditions. Try jacking the car up and turning the wheel by hand, if you get a lot of resistance, chances are that the calipers/pistons are stuck. If you fit new discs with calipers/pistons which are not 100% free, there a huge risk that your new discs will warp quickly good luck
  7. When it comes to duty/ tax, the collection of this is done by the shipping co/ parcel co on behalf of HMCustoms& Excise. In my experience when an item comes through the US postal service into Royal Mail it is selected at random to be checked and relevant duty/tax charged. (Even when the correct value is declared on the documentation) There doesn't seem to be any particular rule. I have paid duty on some stuff but not on others. (even some big stuff came through with no duty charged (4 Brake discs@ 65+Lbs in weight) However- I've also had a several items shipped via UPS and they always bill for tax/duty. They look for payment over the phone well ahead of the item landing in the UK. (Courtesy have always used UPS when sending anything I've ordered) Its best to factor the tax/duty in to your purchase, if it's not charged, it's an added bonus On "warranty returns" they can still be insured for full value, however- if your sender marks the value of a $300 item at $50 on the customs declaration and it goes missing- you'd only get that value on insurance claims!!
  8. Hi- if you find out the packed weight, try this link for a shipping quote, You could ask the sender to mark it "Warranty returned autoparts"- A guy did this for me and no duty etc. ( i then asked another if he would do it and he replied with a lecture about ethics!!) http://ircalc.usps.gov/
  9. .... just as some others have mentioned, i got a new one from the states, (as a spare coz it was cheap) thinking I already had a S2 ptu since my car's an S2. Then i looked last night and saw that it was fitted with the S1 PTU, I think they changed on production cars in '93, my z is a '92. If I can get hold of the connectors i could knock a harness together, I might give Courtesy a try first
  10. Can anyone tell me where I can get a harness for the above. I've got a '92 K early series2 TT fitted with the early PTU. I've got the later one but no harness, Thanks for all help Leonard

Hi- I bought a set of KYB adj from "Powergarage" in the states- saw them on Ebay $305 + $95 shipping. I didn't pay tax on them (I've bought a lot from USA, sometimes I get billed for VAT/Duty sometimes not- I think the post office pick packages at random) Here are a few sellers from Ebay.com today http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7912384282&category=33590 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7913374256&category=33590 I saw some springs too http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7913437064&category=33582&sspagename=WDVW http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7912386243&category=33582&sspagename=WDVW
  12. Congratulations Stu, comiserations Hugh Leonard
  13. Too right mate, I hope I need to but I just wondered if i could put 200sx t28's straight on. I'll soon find out if my current ones are suspect. I've got a pair of s/s split down pipes and decat pipes to fit. Hopefully the seals will hold. L
  14. Hi alex, thanks for this, it helps clarify a bit better for me. I was thinking that i could possibly swap mine out for T28's/ 200sx's- (on the offchance that I get them at a good price) I started my zed last week and I was getting blue smoke, and certainly the smell of burning oil in the exhaust so I began thinking about new turbos. I've just run it for 30 mins and no evidence of oil in the exhaust at all. perhaps it's the PCV. Cheers Leonard
  15. Hi- please can someone clarify- T25s are std on zeds? if so, I read somewhere that T28s are almost identical and are std fit on 200sx. Does this mean they can be fitted to a Z? (Allowing for the fact the Z's have slight differences from left to right/ wastegate actuator fitting etc and 2 X 200sx tubs would be the same and need some slight modifying to fit) Is it possible? Worth the trouble? Any advantage over std? Thanks Leonard
  16. All std Z front discs are the same diameter. As Jock said, on early Non Turbos (89-mid 90) the discs are thinner - 26mm vs 30mm for TTs. The alloy calipers should just bolt on.
  17. [Hi- I bought a full set (both doors, door tops/ targa edges and door /targa aperture seals) from Courtesy the cost was- Targa edge- $44 & $56 (different price for each side- not sure why) Door/targa aperture $112 each side Door $95 each approx $550 total, $50 S+H and £70 tax etc. and it took a bit of trial and error to get them to seal properly Leonard
  18. Hi- I went with Houghtons. 92 JapTT, exhaust, intake, chip and a few other items, 2nd car, 5K miles, classic policy, £300- Scotland Leonard
  19. I was lucky then. When I bought them, I thought someone was taking the P- until they arrived. L
  20. Thanks for the advice. John, what is the BIN code and where will I find it? Thanks Leonard
  21. Hi- Please can someone help?! I have a Jap TT which has a chip and a few mods. I think the chip was fitted in Japan. I don't know what the spec is. Is it possible to have it read/ altered? Thanks Leonard
  22. Hi I bought 4 Rsr in feb04 direct from Khan design in Bradford. They had an ad on Pg69 of Feb Banzai mag offering 15" w/tyres- £250 17" w/tyres- £399 18 w/tyres- £499 The offer was for 4 wheels same size (18X7.5")with 215 tyres. I bought 2 18X8 and 2 18X9.5 and becasue the tyres I needed were much bigger they couldn't do such a fab deal on a complete package so i just bought the rims- £386 for the 4! I'd give them a call and ask if there are any specials on now http://www.kahndesign.com 01274 749999
