  1. That would never happen here.
  2. I'm just glad we don't have to listen to Quentin Wilson droning on about what we should all be doing anymore. He was convicted for clocking cars! From the Lexus owner's forum:- The LS400 was only a few years old and not popular here at all, the price was just about to dip below £10000 and I could have gathered all my pennies together and got one and then he came along with the feature and put at least £2000 on the price... Quentin Wilson was a second hand car dealer then (with a conviction for clocking) and before he did the feature he bought every one he could lay his hands on and then made a killing selling them after he talked them up.... A total misuse of the BBC....
  3. I've repaired a few iPods, but not the Shuffle. It does sound like the battery tbh. Sometimes the batteries can be the same as ones in other devices. I would open it up, measure the voltage after a long charge, then take it from there. It doesn't sound like the cable, but it might also be worth a shot just in case.
  4. Hi fellas. I'm after a bit of a favour here. Basically myself and someone else has been ripped off by some e-bay seller. I remembered seeing that he was selling this car, which was his own, and I've managed to find the closed listing on e-bay after some effort. He lives in Bishop Auckland, Durham, but I wondered if someone might know where these pictures were taken. I was suspicious of his low feedback, but got my partner (with another ebay user ID) to get his landline number before bidding. The problem is that he's always "out." Ebay only gives me limited information. The registration number is also useful, because it didn't sell and is his own car, so if anyone has access to PNC, I could at least get to speak to him in person. Thanks.
  5. Except for when they give you the flu 5 days before Christmas!
  6. I reckon the 'Chip & Pin' cards are easier to clone than the magnetic ones. I've never heard of so many card clonings recently. If you'd rather sign a receipt than risk having your card's chip read, you can burn out the chip with a power supply and make it unreadable, so that you no longer need to enter your pin!
  7. I'm sure the guys at GM in America would get just as confused with metric measurements. It's just what your used to. I got used to imperial bolts and thread sizes fairly easily when I rebuilt my Chevy. I was brought up with metric, but don't really have a problem with Imperial stuff. It would be a bloody boring world if we all copied the Germans.
  8. I knew you were from N.Wales when I saw how you'd spelled Muffin lol!
  9. So we now have to beg the EU to keep pints and MPH FFS. This place is a fooking joke:- http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7786861.stm "An agreement has been reached with the EU to allow Britain to keep measuring its roads in miles and serving beer in pints."
  10. It's not a piss take. I grew up in a deprived area with **** all and can spell better than that. I don't expect people to use the queens English, just something which can be understood a little easier. There's too many lazy ****ers around, who'll keep on letting standards drop. I don't see where income comes into this either.
  11. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=220326412762&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=012:xxx::xxx:
  12. My Mum isn't scared of being in the Z, no matter how hard I've accelerated. She's 65, but the missus is scared to death of it and never accepts a ride in it! Mind you she hates rollercoasters too.
  13. Oops - missed that bit. Mine's around 400fwhp and I once had one going for it behind me. He couldn't keep up and this later sparked a debate on here with someone who didn't believe me - I'll film it, should there be a next time lol! The BMW is let down by its weight, otherwise it's a great car.
  14. Your description was spot on! I was amazed at how quickly it reached 70, significantly faster than the Zed, but the Zed would probably eat it alive over 100. What I liked about it was the "Go-Kart" feel and driver involvement. It seemed to be detonating at higher revs, which was a bit worrying and I didn't like to say anything because the owner has just spent a fortune getting it running on all six cylinders again.
  15. I'd like to take a gun with me, so I can shoot all the twats that pissed me off, when they finally come to join me in hell lol!
  16. Sorry to hear about this. The same happened to me a few years ago and it really p1ssed me right off, so I know how you feel. The insurance should give you enough to get another Z. Make sure you get a good whiplash claim in and you'll break even - that was the advice I had from the garage at the time.
  17. Fair play to ya. Mine's not far off this, but she buys crap sometimes. Mind you she loves football and has just bought me tickets for a game in 2 weeks.
  18. I've just bought a 37" Viera (720p) plasma and I'm well impressed with it. It has a response time of 0.1ms, which is nearly as good as a CRT. Upscaling is the way to go for SD channels, HD ones are obviously gonna be best. If you've got kids then the Vieras have a very tough front panel. My mate's 42" LCD LG is 1080p, cost the same as mine, but I can't see much difference in picture quality. The LCD is slower to react to fast moving video, but they are cheaper to buy. As someone else said, go for a long warranty because they're not cheap to fix like the old tellies. Dave.
  19. Getting a ride in one of these tomorrow. I'm shocked at just how fast this little thing is on paper. Should be good for a laugh and I'll be recording it in HDV to hopefully stick on youtube. http://www.carfolio.com/specifications/models/car/?car=88770
  20. I think 40 years ago the Corvette's chassis would have been dipped, but all the paint has gone from the inside of the chassis. It's still solid and I just want to spray something in there to stop it from going downhill rapidly. I've heard of people mixing old engine oil with paraffin and spraying that in, but it's gonna get EVERYWHERE. Ditrinol sounds like a plan, but it might seal in the moisture and make things worse. I should have got it dipped really, but the missus wanted it moving into the new garage I've just built, so she can have her new kitchen!
  21. I thought he was a badger.
  22. It's only temporary, but it undoes what Norman Lamont did in 1991 for a while. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/financetopics/budget/3502621/Pre-Budget-report-Big-VAT-cuts-to-boost-spending-in-emergency-budget.html
  23. I use VGA straight to the HDTV from the Xbox360 and it's still capable of full HD. HDMI is just digitally connected and suffers less from analogue noise. There's not a lot in it between my HDMI-connected HDV camcorder and the VGA-connected Xbox360 though.
  24. Thanks guys. It's for an old Corvette chassis. I've put the body back on it after painting the chassis, but I wondered if I could spray something inside the chassis to slow down the corrosion that will no doubt ensue in this climate!
