Mine does that abit..... but hay its like 0 degress out there you cant expect these 17 year old cars to be running perfect from start up.

oh and the standard gauges are not very accurate and you would still get a reading from the offside turbo... i think.

well as long as you can hear the nearside turbo spinning... should make a wistle noise.... if it sounds like air trying to get through more like a hiss noise then the turbo isnt spinning but doenst necessarily mean its siezed :S hopefully its fine... good luck. and good luck with the manual conversion your planning for the future ;)

yeah i wanted to do it the other way but i got too excited specially with 4th gear wheel spin WOW.... yeah i thought it was detting noise. engine still seems sweet no smoke etc ;) i let off as soon as i heard the noise. think im guna go for bigger injectors, do you think i can turn the boost up enough to just hear that noise then unscrew the control a quarter to be safe? will that be safe to run and tune that way?

Could be a simple vacume hose come loose as you went sideways. follow all the turbo hoses and see if any are loose etc.

yeah u need to have a look from underneath. I think the hose has come off or a big split in a hose somewhere near the turbo coz ur getting boost pressure which means the turbo is spinning but the air it is creating is just going into the atmosphere and not into the intake and ur getting no power from that side of the engine. hopefully its that and not a siezed turbo just go kwik fit and pretend you need a new exhaust and get it on a ramp and have a look. if nothing is split or come off, then turbo might be siezed as that would cause diferent exhaust noise and less power, your probably getting the boost reading from the offside turbo. im not sure how the ecu would read the problem, going to safety boost etc. what make on the boost gauge does the neddle reach?

whats that noise when you have the boost set too high like a cracking/electric noise from the front of the engine?????? I fitted my manual boost valve and had to adjust the boost its set at 14 psi now but while i was adjusting and test driving i was running too high boost and adjusting down till that noise went away. when the noise dissapeared i reduced the boost another quarter turn just to be on the safe side.... Car is running sweet but just curious bout that noise.....

does it rev above 2.500rpm? and you say it is still boosting past the normal psi? hat smoke from the dip stick is where the nearside turbo is. could have seized a turbine. or maybe like you said the hose has come of the turbo which would explain why there is alot of hissing. you should be very careful coz if the turbines aresucking from the atmosphere something can and probably will get sucked in. take it to a garage and on a ramp and have a look. take it anywhere where u can see underneath where the turbo is.

6k wow..... you should of started from scratch and spent maybe 4k refurbing everything, then started customising it yourself, imagine all the money that could of been used for. but thats just my opinion. I bought mine for £1900 but is still far from perfect. i would like to see what yours looks like you got any pics?

oops just read your thread properly, thought u said the speedo lights were dim, yeah prob a short, check all fuses anyway.

dont wanna sound funny but first check that you have not turned the dash dimmer down on the right hand side, you may have turned it down without realising what you were doing, i did this when i first bought my z was funny. its the two buttons on the left side of the steering wheel where the headlight switches are :)

When i first bought my z the fog lights never worked from day one, when i press the fog button the front side lights turn on and rear lights but no fog lights, the front fogs seem to be unplugged and there is no sign of any connectors the rear fog... well there isnt one. Cant pass my mot like this which means no driving the z. my hazard button also does not work i bought a new switch but also no luck, when the hazard light switch is pressed the side indicators wont work anyone know what it could be? where else should i check? What is strange is that my car has had a past mot which means the fogs must have been working at some stage but i have no clue what they have done. was imported last year.
