  1. Just bought a golf 1.6 CL. GTi replica F reg 1988..........for £20 Coz I know the Z will be off the road soon havin tubs done. Only failed MOT on headlight adjustment, wingmirror missing tiny tiny welding oh and the worst...it had been lowered in the past, good few years ago I recon and the front passange spring snaped! But should have 12 months motty next weekend. Stands me at about 100 quid.. But had a Lada once and owned 2 capri's..like to think I moved on a bit now owning a Z, Porsche 911, Honda Type V accord and the Golf GTi repi...will maybe the Golf lets me down a bit :~)
  2. I know steam is normal, its the oil smoke that worries me. I have no H pipe so each side of the engine has a seperate exhaust. Smoke that smells of burnt oil only comes out of the passanger side exhaust! Only and idle, and is completly fine when driving. It does sound to me like the oils seals, but having read other posts on the PVCs wanted feedback on wether they could cause the same simptoms. As I said the tubs are from the exterior in very good cond. Boost is fine and theres no smoke at all when driving at any speed. Could the passenger side PVC being faulty cause smoke at idle only intermittantly?
  3. Oops, at work and wasn't paying atension. Can it be moved? It has Never ever smoked at all in the 8-9 months I have owned it until the cats got binned. Before the cats had been gutted, so con't understand? If I boot it and stop to idle it more often than not does not do it. Strange.
  4. Yes this seems common. Done away with the cats and now has smoke from the left zorst intermittantly on idle. Could the PVC be the problem? I've seem a lot of posts about them. If worst case, Where's the best place to have my tubs reconed? Full symptoms: - Does it more when cold, only on idle, no smoke at all when moving? Only from the passanger side, drivers fine other than usual steam type. Sometimes its fine once warm. When it does smoke, hold the revs at 2k and it stops. Smoke as soon as the engine was started after new zorst. Zorst fitted Friday now Monday. Help?
  5. Is it still at the same venu? North West Meeting Sunday 29th Feb. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Decided to have this meeting on the 29th of Feb. What about the H pipe or Balance pipe on the exhaust? What does it do..all I can find is that it help reduce noise levels. I would think that from the rear it would sound better having 3 cylinders firing through one exhaust and 3 through the other. I had a VW Van with a Rover V8 and that had two separate exhausts, one for one side of the engine (4 pots) and one for the other. I sounded f-in fantastic. Is there any good reason why the same cannot be applied to the Z? Oh, and another question going back to the cats. If you replace them with straight through pipe, what do you do with the sensors, just unplug them? Incidentally, TOP Gear (not the TV show) in Burnley, Lancs. have quoted me £190 for CAT back in Stainless with twin pipes each side and no box's just pipe.
