NZR welding 3cr12 any experts?
We use 304 and 316 grades of stainless( 316 being better ) at work and that can "rust", also a common problem with stainless is "stress corrosion" this can happen when the metal is on a hot application, there is vibration and water . the metal around any welds actually corrodes until it fracture. that info came from a laboratory when we had a problem with some pipe. att: clever bods on here
yep that helps, cheers jeff, I assume that the rotation speed of the sensor is directly proportional to the rotation speed of the prop shaft, do you know the gear ratio of the speed sensor to prop shaft by any chance. thanks Pete :)

4x4s
I had a cherokee for 18mths, brilliant on and off the road-saw quite a few landies and range rovers off when off roading it( missus made me get rid when i got the z). like the z they need alot of servicing especially the transmission when been off road, In the time I had the jeep it cost me £60 for a second hand dizzy cause the original broke.THEY AIN'T CHEAP TO RUN- IE 20 OR LESS TO THE GALLON. frontera's are crap, however they share some parts with isuzu I should never have got rid of my jeep, just slapped the missus and told her to behave. just my 2p worth pete :D

brake squeal
this is driving me nuts, started last week so assumed pads were low, so I went to see a guy I trust for standard replacement pads all round, he could only get TT pads but didn't think it would make any difference, all pads have now been replaced and it still bloody squeals, I'm pretty certain its the front drivers side doin it. Any ideas what the minimum disk thickness is on a 300N/A 1991/92, could the disks be too thin and so squealling. I noticed 1 or 2 cracks in the shims were the caliper pistons contact the pads- could this be the cause. answers or comments on a post card please as I said " it's driving me nuts" and doesn't sound good around town thanks Pete :(

Right stop lamp not working
same problem over the weekend, all sorted now though.in the boot remove the drivers side rear arch cover and find the "lights" control box (about 1.5 x 2 black box). when i found mine it was full of water- when i openned it up it was a green goo inside and there are 2 wire links - not in mine had corroded away. too completely remove the unit and keep all the lights do the following on the plug cut and joint together the red wire to the red/black stripe wire there should be a black wire and a yellow/red stripe above it, cut these wires and tape them up separetly you should be left with 2 yellow/red stripe and 2 green/red stripe. connect 1 yellow to 1 green and then the other yellow to green. the green/red stripe is a switched live from the foot pedal and goes to a common point in the loom the black is negative so not needed the 1st yellow/red stripe is the return to the "lights" indicator on the dash the other 2 yellow/red stripe are the brake lights either side of the car. I hope this helps mate pete :D 1991 n/a

I've been and seen the car as I live just down the road from the owner, story is that she bought it as a present for her husband-- this car was for sale in wales a few months ago with same problem(a little more about this later),the general condition of the car is good although the rear wing needs spraying and the back bumper need some attention to the laquer, the interrior is mint and normal series 1 grey tweed. the car needs a steering rack gator, at least 2 tyres and a fog light for it's mot and a speed convertor. now the welsh bit-- or so I remember the car was imported into liverpool nearly 12 months ago when it went on the boat it ran, when it came off it didn't. I had discussions with the last seller who was supposedly selling for a friend and didn't want electronic payment only hard cash--- if I remember correctly the woman paid in the region of 1400 plus 60 delivery I was prepared to pay a max of 1300 so I didn't bid please believe that this isn't sour grapes but I would hate for someone to get unstuck with one of these cars, I think to sort the car will cost no more than 1000 Pete :D

Bleeding the water system
when the water expands it is sent to the expansion tank, as the system cools it is syphoned back into the radiator as the air space increases in the rad so a slight vac is made, so causing the syphon Pete
