  1. right, moved the filters to the rca converters at the head unit......no difference.... c'mon guys really struggling here.....audio not my strong point, tbh I'm partially deaf and can't hear it unless i'm on top of the speakers...any speaker that is. But the wife, son and daughter are ok, they can hear it then give me grief to turn it off. Pete
  2. Hi Guys......audio isn't really my thing but I 've a problem and it's driving me nuts....... I had, in the car a sony head unit, all channels feeding out on rca jacks to an amp in the boot.....then to the speakers :hyper: this worked brilliantly no noise and good sound reproduction. The wife has bought me a new head unit for christmas......usb in, cd player and memory card etc.....seems a good piece of kit TBH.....but no rca outputs, so went to local car audio shop and got some pre amp rca converters as advised by them, installed into the car and followed all directions to the letter. when the engine is running every dog in town can hear my motor cause I've now got a very high pitched whistle( not present with engine off) so I fitted an inductive filter(coil) to the acc on the head unit....made things a little better but not completely gone. Was in Warrinton today so called in at Halfrauds...guy was very helpful but said there units were expensive but nip to Muplins and get the same thing for a few quid less.....I liked this guy  got the filters from muplins and fitted them( just before the amp) but still whistling (Muplins part no vw43w ... ground loop isolator). will try at the head unit later in the week HELP THIS IS DRIVING ME NUTS.......If I can't sort it then the sonys going back in Pete :(
  3. oops, forgot about that as mines bypassed :D Pete
  4. they should connect to a tail light so that the inverter powers up when you switch you side lights/tail lights on. Pete
  5. trebor, I'm in cheshire aswell, if you need help then give us a shout....hmmmmmmif I'm free I'll lend a hand.where are you, how much you got to spend.......I know of a pearl white tt auto thats for sale.... I believe its just had a recon box and new heater matrix. Pete
  6. Rich, I can understand your frustration, the only time I can lend a hand is the weekends.........if it's any help I have a brand new master cylinder in my garage and various bits and pieces........but you need to get to Winsford.Don't take this the wrong way mate but your workshop is cr*p plus all my tools are handy. Have a word with smithy for a replacement clutch flexi pipe... quite reasonably priced and would eliminate the chance of your flexi being porous........which is a possibility. oops just remembered I think smithys on his hols. Pete
  7. Rich...........you never said if there was air in the system whenever you bleed it......................is there Pete
  8. Rich, right then, the master cylinder can only be assembled one way, I refitted the clevis back on the rod within a few mm of where I took it off, which I did point out to you.Considering your work shop is like the black hole of calcutta, when I looked at the bore of the master cyinder.....before refitting new parts, it looked fine with no scoring of the bore and its securly bolted to the bulkhead, as i said on the phone double check that the pipe union from the master cylinder is tight........considering the space I tightened it as tight as I could. consider other things clutch is fooked ??????? the flexi is porous..........seen this before on hydraulic lines the slave cylinder is fooked failing all of the above then its air in the system. Pete

if you remove the dash then about 6/7 hours, if you don't then about 4 hours and a severe PITA to do.......if you've a manual box, auto is a bit easier. probably the best thing to do is search the site.plenty of info knocking about Pete

sorry to tell you mate, but it sounds as though your heater matrix has blown. Pete
  11. look up above the pedals, slightly to the left of the brake pedal there is a main harmess that passess through the bulkhead(this is where I passed all my cables). looking at the engine from the front then the lh sensor(yellow plug) is the feedback for the ecu the rhs sensor (black single connector) is for the dash temp guage.....I suppose you could remove this and use the aftermarket sensor ....if it'll fit in the boss. Alternatively talk to our traders about a top hose section with a boss already welded in(made mine myself)..I think I'm right in saying that most people on here fit a top hose section. hope this helps Bud. Pete :D
  12. Rich, pm me you address bud, I can call over the weekend and sort the matrix for you, done 2 of these.......found them easy if not a little time consuming. Pete
  13. Hmmm, finally subscribed :D thought I better had, cause whenever I log on there is always a nice big list of whos on, but never much in the open forums..................therefore something's going on behind closed doors(forums) or is that closet doors.... ;) Pete
  14. A primera unit fits with a little modification and u need to take the dash out..............about £70 Iirc. Pete
  15. by the way, I have no idea what the present chip is??????? Pete
  16. Andy, that would be great mate. when and where and I'll sort something out. oh and how much....... :D . Danny thanks for the offer , I'll see how things go Pete :D
  17. Hmmmmmm, help please.Looks like I'll be jobless early next year after busting a gut for the last 17 years :headvswal ,so need to sort this ASAP. I'm after a chip.... any ideas who/where to get one and how much.I'm already running an after market chip but i'm not sure how good/bad it is for my Z....been told after a conzult it's for an auto  and mines a manual. The ECU is already socketed so just need to swap. spec of the car is blitz sus air filter and larger intake pipes to the TB's stillen manifolds de-cat scorpion aftermarket cat back all the emission control extras are in the bin soon to be fitted oil catch cans and plug the manifolds.....seems like an idea + they cost me nowt. What else can I do to get a bit more from the stock engine.....for not alot of dosh..........the redundancy isn't brilliant thanks guys Pete
  18. If it's a manual then either take the clutch pedal out or the dash, have done 2 to date, started doin mine without removing the dash but used a primera matrix in the end so had to take the dash out. can take dash out change matrix and replace dash in about 6 hours..........did freestyle_col's a couple of weeks ago in the same time. the clutch pedal can be a bitch to get out. hope this helps Pete
  19. So to me that is more of an application issue, I cannot say I've ever had a problem with them backing out,I still don't think the plenum would stand a 10mm bolt( I may be wrong of coarse) other than helicoiling the only other fix I would consider would be to Locktite a stud in and use a nut . Pete :D
  20. A helicoil is fine if it's fitted correctly........IIRC would need to tap out to 10mm as already 8mm and I don't think there is enough material to go over size. Recoil kits are designed not to come out without a fight. Pete :D
  21. Hmmm, seems to be a common problem..........group buy on a helicoil kit seems in order.....M8x1.25mm :D Pete
  22. Well done mate, Just bear in mind that it's only 6 points for the first 2 years then banned plus that test again... oh and any previous points you may have are taken into account..........just been through all this crap with my lad Pete
  23. I don't know if anyones interested, but with winter approaching. The heater matrix from a Primera fits our cars with a very slight mod to the plastic enclosure and about an hours extra work.....got to take the dash out though. costs less than 1/2 a proper z matrix have done 2 now, 1 being my own, spent a little more time doin mine so I could change it .... if needed without removing the dash again.the other I did last Saturday for another club member....did it in 61/2 hours. the matrix looks " more up to the job aswell, as it's 6mm deeper. Just thought I'd share this Pete :D
  24. I can't remember cost etc ...it's been a while since I did the job..........BUT IIRC I used 2 inverters in parallel to get the required power .....I too smoked one due to being underpowered. This is powering a standard green EL nissan panel not a homebrew conversion.. NOTE: 1 INVERTER IS NOT POWERFUL ENOUGH AND WILL GET SMOKED if you want to know more let me know and I'll have a look at what I did .....may take a day or 2 Pete
  25. it's a uk website, so price is probably just + vat, nice though.a bigger pic would be better. Pete
