Side play in turbo shaft
How much side play if any in mm is allowed on the turbo impeller/turbine shaft? The manual only states end play or runout allowance?

Would You Install An Oil Cooler On A Auto Box... Or Not?
Too True!! Its alot cheaper to fit an oil cooler than to repair or renew the Transmission ;)

Head pitted on number 6
I don't know why people buy cars like these or any car and do not maintain them!! I know its easier when you used to be a mechanic but it is not that hard to change a few plugs, change the coolant or (add Some  ) or carry out an oil/filter change  it just amazes me :nono:

Head pitted on number 6
It just goes to show a car can look good and sound great and the Engine sounded sweet as everyone heard at the last mini meet in the forest not too long ago but it was a knackered Engine waiting to go bang!

Head pitted on number 6
I did a compression test on it last year and it was good but it was a warm test so i did not suspect anything??

Head pitted on number 6
I know mate!! Its the first time i have had these heads off :( i would love to know who worked on this engine before!? i have never seen a skim like that before either..
-
Head pitted on number 6
By head number i think you mean this one Andy as it is wiped off in the skim if the skim has reached its recommended limit at a guess?? Head on the left is off side bank 1,3,5 and two others are of bank 2,4,6

Head pitted on number 6
Here's the top of number six piston! (One before clean & one after) apart from valve damage there is not much damage to the top unlike the head! Maybe its detenation but i always though the plug would suffer first then the piston then the Head! maybe its the other way round but only number Six has suffered this so maybe i have a faulty stock injector??
-
Head pitted on number 6
If you look at the pics above this is Exactly how the head looked as soon as i removed it! all i have done is cleaned it up and reseated the valves except Number 6's exhaust valves as they are bent from the piston being hit upwards after the small end gave way? I am a bit cuious though to the damage to the combustion chamber as the top of the piston was hardly damaged yet the combustion chamber is badly marked?? Unless this is previous damage from before i owned the car and thats why the engine was stripped before?? (note the spark plug is i real goog condition still  )

Head pitted on number 6
It never had antifreeze in it when i bought the car a couple of years ago. i know the car had not been looked after before i owned it from various other taletale signs  ! I had to flush the Engine four times to get all the rusted water out and crap out! I had four core plugs rust through nearly two years ago after that!! Then i pressure tested it and put antifreeze/water back in with some water wetter! And i found out a few days ago that the radiator is still clogged at the bottom!! at least 5 rows and i cant use the drain plug where its so bad! It is not a crack in the combustion chamber it is a machine line from when it was previously skimmed! I could tell it had been skimmed and had a head gasket done on the car before as they had damaged at least three of the head bolts tightening them and not having the tool in the head bolt correctly causing damage inside the top of the bolts.. :(

Head pitted on number 6
There are some N/a heads on there too! Greg are they compatible or do they have different combustion chambers and valves,Cams
