Dilemma!
FUEL: On a long run I got 32MPG driving at 60ish for virtuall all the way. I got over 320 miles to a tank. The tank is 72 litres. Normal smaller trips I only get about 18MPG. If you havent experienced that low MPG it will be a big shock. Think less than 50 miles for every £10 of fuel. INSURANCE: When I was 21 and got my Z, Tesco was cheapest. They do online quotes, but I had 4 year NCB at the time and was just under a grand. Make sure you get a quote for a UK (300ZX) and a Japanese one (Fairlady) If you put 300ZX on the online quote it will be UK spec. Use the Nissan Fairlady to get an Import quote, I think you will be shocked at the difference. COST: 300ZXs are getting cheaper, but it is getting harder and harder to find good ones, especially UK spec ones. UK ones are lucky to have less than 100,000 miles on now and need to have been looked after very well to be rust free. You get what you pay for. The more you pay the better quality it should be. £5000 should get you a good one now. 2 years ago £5000 only got you an OK one. MAINTENANCE: Your car should have good history. Its no good having 3 good owners who looked after it very well and the last owner couldnt care much as damage will be done. These are very reliable cars. People now mod them quite a bit and with the more serious modding comes less reliability. It tends to be the modded cars who get the most serious problems. Dont forget these cars are on average over 10 years old. When you where in Primary School these car had just been released, think of it that way. At over 10 years old parts will fail, but the most serious ones would have probably been changed any ways. There are people on here who can help keep the costs down with quality used parts or alternatives to Nissan parts. Again history is handy here so you can see what had been changed. Happy hunting. Top Gear audience!!!!!!
That is very equal rights then isnt it? By that means, most of the women there will be with their boyfriend or husband and not really there because they really wanted too. So you dont end up with an audience of 50/50, you end up with an audience of 100% men with their girlfriend/wife. Before you know it, it will ask for 33% Black, 33% Asian, 33% white and an asylum seeker ;)

Top gear tonight
When we went Santa Pod there was a Escort Cosworth with us and got slower than out Zs. But it did wheels spin as did the Zs. Did any one notice the number plate of the Z? ** PEN. I am sure I have seen that plate on here somewhere. I think it was on the car under the ride Jools on the old system. I know the Jools car is sold as the person who owns it now lived near me. Stuart

Top gear tonight
read my post about how my replacement parts for my popped computer also went pop and when the replacement for the replacement also popped. You will realise what I have been doing all day and only had 40 mins or so at home before I had to come and sit in work for 3 hours before the football match starts. When I get home I have to install windows again and I am hoping that everything will be OK. If all goes well when I get home (When does it ever go well with computers?;)) a link will probably be up for later tonight. Stuart

low vacuum on startup
You are lucky to find any vacume leaks by just listening. I thought the cold air means the vacume will be lower because the air is more dence. Or is that the wrong way round,.

My computer replacement went pop too.
I posted that my CPU and Motherboard went pop yesterday. I took the parts back where they tested it and they where dead. Where they changed them for a new chip and replacement Motherboard, but was told to go back to the testing dep before I leave so they can test out the new chip and MB. So after 30 mins or so waiting to get my new parts I went to the test dep, where I was now behind a few other people in the queue. When it was my turn the took the brand new CPU and brand new MB and tried them out. Nothing. The thing wouldnt work. Tried the chip in another computer and the CPU was fine. So they had to replace the replacement MB. So in the queue to get seen to for another 10-15 mins and then another 15-20 wait while they get the parts. When I got the 2nd MB of the day I went back to the test dep again to test this one. Again another 20 min wait or so before I got seen. Set everything up with the new MB. Guess what. Dead as a door nail. 20 mins of them fiddling again, and actually turning it on by shorting the 2 power on switch pins which is not good. After 20 mins of him having a go, his hand slipped and he shorted the wrong pins and I heard a little pop. So back to the queue where I order the parts again and this time it was suggested to get a refund and change it for a different make. So 15 mins to get served, 15-20 mins to get the parts from the back then to the back of the queue in the testing dep to finally test the chip and MB. YAY! Worked first time :D. I left my house at 11am to get there and I didnt get in until gone 4. I was at Scan for 3 and a half hours. :( I thought the NHS was bad ;) Fair dos to them though, its not their fault that a whole batch of my make of motherboard where faulty. When in the test dep I noticed 7 motherboard of my make which they had marked up as faulty :( Stuart

hold/power button
Press it in and the revs will hold on for longer before changing gear. Ie, instead of changing at 2500rpm it will hold on to a lot higher before changing for example 5000

Top gear tonight
supposed. Are there any? Also its massed produced. I think you are allowed so many before its massed produced. Like the Mitsu Evo Extreme. That is 360bhp standard but wasnt classed as mass produced I think.
-
Top gear tonight
It probably can make 350bhp easy, but there is a law that no mass produced car in Japan can go over the 280PS limit.
-
Top gear tonight
Didnt slaught there 350Z. But was interesting watching it fall back and then pull in front. I think you would have seen the gap get larger if the race went on for another one or two hundred yards or so. At the end of the day it was all a bit of fun

Top gear tonight
The 300ZX also wheel spun first of all

Fancy dress idea's needed
If you are really stuggling, get a mate to dress the same and go as the 118 guys. A vest with 118 on, a wig and mustache is all you need.

Please Help
Is it possible to actually keep the car running but it is hard to do and all the car wants to so is stall? That sounds like the water temperature sensor is faulty. For people who have never experienced this, unplug the yellow water temp sensor and try to start your car. It doesnt want to start and when it finally does, it struggles to stay running. It is possible to keep it running but you have to keep using the throttle to do so. Is this what is happening? If so, there is a yellow water temperature sensor right at the front of the engine on the metal water pipe just behind the big fan. Take the plug off and give the connectors on the plug and sensor a really good clean. If you can, take the sensor out and give that a good clean too. It may be as simple as that. Code 34? Is that the detonation sensor? Does the NA have one? Seems strange a NA engine having one. Stuart
