  1. The panel is a standard one that started life as silver '300ZX'. It's been opened, sprayed, then the '300ZX' logo was sanded, then it had about three coats of 'clear' red modelling paint applied, then the electoluminscent panel was installed, then it was all put back together. Cost of materials was about £45 for the EL kit, then about £10 for 'Other' materials, and then a further £30 for a replacement rear panel!! (due to cracking my original one :smash: ). The kit does give you enough sheet for three panels to be done, but only one inverter that you need.
  2. And while you've got them apart, why not spray the lens bezel with chrome paint (available from Halfords, by Plasticote), and also the reflector backs (as they are white normally), and then yopu could apply black pin striping to the inside of the lens to give it that proper 99 spec look! Just a thought. :D
  3. Strange! Could be a dodgy switch, or even water in the motor, shorting out the contact? Best bet would be to look at the motor, and if you cant see anything then change the switch unit, and see if that makes any difference. HTH
  4. What? Do you mean, give the ironing to do?/.............Oooooooooo you'll have all the feminists on your back now ;) :D (Ooo, err misses ;) )
  5. Damm, looks like I've been rumbled ;)
  6. Failing that your inverter is knacked!! But let me go through how and what is there, just so that you can understand the process, and might help you find the fault easier. The light is emited from an Electroluminescent Panel. This is, basically, two thin sheets, one is a positive and the other is a negative, they are then sandwiched together and have an electrical contact around the edge, again one + one -. These are for connecting of the power, in this case 110v AC. This 110v is supplied by a unit called an 'inverter' (it's actually an inverter/transformer). 12vDC is fed in, and 110vAC is produced out. This 12vDC can be found from either the number plate lamp circuit (as mentioned above) or the Tail lamp circuit (not recomended, due to the 'Bulb-Out' circuit), I would recomend fuseing this part of the circuit. Anyway, don't want to 'Teach Granny To Suck Eggs', but I hope that helps.
  7. I'm quite prepared to tackle yours mate..... But.... As mentioned already (somewhere) I cracked my original one :D so I'm holding no responsibility if it cracks! Although saying that I now know what the fook I'm doing  I'll also need another inverter, which I beleive I can get hold of from RS Components (will have to check on the price) I can loan you a temporary replacement while I'm doing yours, but the ones I have are cracked! lol PM me if you want to trust me with it :d
  8. As requested :D (first bloody chance I've had  )
  9. I've also got the amber bulbs. Got them from these people , only .95p per bulb. They do the proper red bulbs aswell, only £1.85, if you want to go for the clear Tail/Brake lenses at the rear aswell... But if you do, 1) Apparently it's illegal , and 2) I just happen to have four of these available if anybody wants them :D The service from BeedSpeed is very good. HTH
  10. Well the one taken with the SLR, is a little darker than the actuall colour of the car, but then this pic was transfered from film to digital at the processing shop, so it could have lost somthing there. Also it was a dull January morning when I took it. The Fuji DigiCam was taken at the same place, but one year later, and with (as you can see) good sunshine! TBH the car does look this good in the sunshine  As for the Motorola, well it's just a crap picture :D lol The one at the Pod, i beleive, IMHO, the colour setting of the picture are out. Not sure how, wether the pic has been through PhotoShop or PSP, or if the camera is off in some way. And the last one, I think the colour is out aswell.
  11. Been checking some of my pics this afternoon, and there certainley are some different colour diferences between cameras.......... Taken by myself, just after I got it, with a Fuji 36mm SLR camera, Also taken by myself, but with my Fuji A202 DigiCam, Again taken by me, but this time with my new Motorola RAZR V3 camera phone, This time taken at Santa Pod, sorry can't remember who took this one :slap: , And finally, taken last weekend by Peach, Anyway, just thought I'd share that observation :D
  12. These are..... http://www.czp.us/Cart/description.php?II=296&Car_Type=NIS300&UID=2005042000511557.67.17.3 This is how they come, you have to order two sets. Coz at CZP is very good. I also know that DaveC (PHNW) does these aswell, I'm sure he'll be able to sort you out another set of three. HTH
  13. Some guy in the States was selling the proper striping kits for these the other week, if I can fine his details I'll let you know. He was doing them in the colour of your choice aswell! This looks familiar!!!! ;)
  14. Bloody PhotoBucket!!!!!! I'll have a look this evening ;)
  15. About bloody time too mate :D :D ;) I expect you'll be coming to some shows once it's finished?
  16. Thanks James :D, very nice  (look better in RED though ;) )

  18. Yep, spotted the other day that my drivers side one is starting to go, so looks like I'll be giving Luke another call soon. Meanwhile, heres ther link... http://www.zcentre.co.uk/others/others.shtml
  19. I'd like to say these look really nice Paul, but I cant, as you've put them on bloody PhotoBucket :headvswal and I'm now at work ;) Damn this server  Now I'm sure these will look the dogs on mine, so I'll have to start selling some more junk... ermmm i mean stuff on e-Bay :D Unless someone would be kind enough to 'copy & paste' them, then I can drool over them :D
  20. Thanksfor the info, but if you check the site, it tells you that the add-on is for a radar detector. The S3 comes with a 360deg laser detecor built-in on top of the unit. So it will catch everything(if you keep it upto date via the web) apart from mobile radar traps. Still not heard from the makers of the BTST one yet.
  21. Yep we were both impressed with the place, very nice. Again with the pics, if anyone wants an original, just PM me your e-mail and I'll zap them off to you, but be warned the originals are around 650Mb each! As for the next one, I probably wont be there, as next month is JapFest so i'm hoping to be going there this year, then the following month it's JAPS, then followed by JAE in July, so a busy few months coming up.
  22. Thank you, i try my best ;) So come on then, wheres the picture of me?? You know the one I mean ;) lol
  23. Well Karen threatened to chuck it out of the window on the way home yesterday :D I had it on on the way to work this morning and on the way home this afternoon, and I've had enough of it aswell. I've phoned them to sort out returning it, but only got through to an answering machine, so I'm waiting for them to return my call
