Is this the Bomex one? I quite like it but i have seen an even more exaggerated version that flicks up slightly more and is a bit deeper.

Smoke after decat, easiest cure?
Yeh, iI have four silencers in total, mainly because i didn't want it to be to loud. I would have thought that a pair of small tightly packed silencer would be worth a try and they have got to be better than putting the cats back in.

Smoke after decat, easiest cure?
I have small silencers in place of the Cats and have never had any smoke on idle or anyother time.

sounds a bit like detonation??
Pete, i wish it had boost its a NA! :( hummm perhaps it is the heat shields then! But then again it does sound quite mechanical and bloody loud. Worth a look though, are they easy to remove?
-
sounds a bit like detonation??
Can detonation occur when idling from cold? The reason i ask is because i am trying to solve a engine rattle that fits the description used by many for detonation (stones being shaken in a bean can). Its quite loud and rises and fall with the rev's until the engine is really hot.

rattle rattle rattle
Cheers Eric - Yes i did touch the bolt behind the pulley when I adjusted the belt tension, but i am sure that i tightened it back up. Is it possible to bleed the air out of the system?

rattle rattle rattle
whilst replacing the VTC springs to solving one rattle (i think) I seem to have created another! While everything was out i took the opportunity to check all the belts. The Steering pump belt was quite lose so i tightened this up, put everthing back together, started it up and all seemed sweet until today. I now have a mettalic bearing type rattle that rises and drops with the engine speed until it has really warmed up then it goes. It seems to becoming from the power steering pump area. I have checked the power steering fluid levels and chucked in some additive but have had no luck. Has anyone had anthing like this? Does the PS pump need replacing or can the bearing be fixed?
