Bonnet vent design and placement.
Yep, the louvres on James` car look good, they suit the shape and line of the bonnet. Was checking out the aftermarket Jun lid design the other day which impressed me... Thanks guys, if anyones got any other ideas over optimal placement/design I`ll be glad to hear `em....now....where did I put my craft knife...;) Leigh.

Bonnet vent design and placement.
Thanks for the photos Clarkey. On a purely cosmetic level the second pic looks a bit too Fast and the Furious for my liking, but if it works.... I`d say yours were a long way from lookin shite Mac, but I gotta admit it`s not a design that I`ve been considering. The Border layout of vents does appear to have a lot in its favour, but it`s a valid comment about the water...(though I should be able to fabricate catch-trays for at least some of the vents...) Hmmm...I think the trick is going to be finding the right balance...Any more suggestions?

Bonnet vent design and placement.
Right. I`ve come into possession of a spare bonnet (cheers Bigbscan:) ) with a view to venting the living daylights out of it. ;) After looking over old posts on the subject I came away with the knowledge that bonnet vents are, generally speaking a "good thing" (surprise!:D ) except when they let water in or don`t actually work due to poor placement..."a bad thing"...:p What I need to know is where on the bonnet are the optimal places for vents to be fitted to get the most cold air in and hot air out. Also, what design is most effective...louvres, inverted/raised scoops etc. Thanks to my years at Art college, and my continuing work, I`m fairly handy when it comes to sculpting stuff, so I`m planning to carve the final vent designs (if it isn`t a louvre) out of extruded polystyrene before moulding out of fibreglass. Any information would be appreciated!:) Leigh.

Gull wing doors
Lol! Small world aint it?;) Was sorry to hear about your accident in the other thread Fas, hope you get it all sorted soon. I was thinking about having a crack at the conversion myself (with the help of two very mechanically minded mates!) but if he`s as good as you say (problems with closing doors on demonstration cars aside:p :D ), if I get cold feet I may well give him a call in a couple of months. Leigh.

Gull wing doors
It was £1200 for the Civic door conversion (fitted yourself, £1500 for them to fit it) and between £1500 and £2000 for a Z depending on the work involved. Although I also remember him saying he was about to start a Z conversion for some guy. The company were called "Turismo". The reason he gave for not being able to close the doors was that he had just fitted a wide arch kit and they smacked the edge of it every time they closed! Leigh.

Gull wing doors
Sorry to jump on the bandwagon but if it`s ok with you I`d like to have a look at that file. Was checking out one of the stands at Max Power Live where they were offering the conversion but was a little put off at the time as the guy couldn`t close the doors on the demonstration car! friday76@lycos.com Cheers, Leigh.

Back on the road soon?
Hey mate, glad to hear it, hope it`s the right one for ya! My Z`s off the road for less than a week after the starter motor went a b*ll*ck at Billing and even in this short length of time I`ve got itchy fingers to get back behind the wheel so I can`t imagine how ya must be feeling by now! Good luck chap!:D Leigh.

Billing Day One
NismO_UK Nervous? "I nearly shat"...;) Fitting the starter motor Thursday now, so should be back on the road scaring old ladies with my "fat zorst" and blinding small children with my "illuminated rear panel" before too long... *quickly runs and puts double set of chains and padlocks on exhaust and panel ready for next meet*:p :D Mind you, after seeing your CD headunit I just gotta get my audio sorted out now! Doh! I can hear my bank manager screaming in fear already... :D Leigh.

Billing Day One
Yikes! Looks like theres more than one Leigh knockin` about...don`t think I tried to sell anyone a lightbulb/car...not unless my medication is a lot better than I thought it was ;) Had a fantastic day, despite starter motor throwin a wobbler(cheers Jeff, you`re a lifesaver!:D ), and gotta say a big thanks to all those that made me feel really welcome (and helped push start the car! ): Matty (convoy down was a laugh mate! ), Pete, Guy and Claire(am on the hunt for midget porn now...you know what I mean...:p ), Stu, Smithy(side repeaters look great!) etc. Will definately be down next year! Friday.

Got back from Billing at 6ish. My first time there and had a great day:D despite not being able to get my car going again thanks to a starter motor deciding enough was enough:( Ah, well...sh1t happens, nothing a push start didn`t fix!:p Will be sending out a few thank you`s after Billings over!:) Oh yeah, and about to watch Rambo II, though I`m not quite sure why. Friday.

Fook It!! It's Raining, I'm Washing My Z.........BLLX To It.....:D
Don`t blame ya keeping a look out mate, theres some b*st*rds out there:rolleyes: A few months ago seven of the cars in my mates road were done over one way or another all in the same night. Unusually, the cops caught the guy (yep, it was all just one guy)...which makes a nice change! God, I know I gotta get to bed soon or I ain`t ever gonna get up tomorrow...trouble is I can`t normally get to sleep before 2! Seen `em again?

Fook It!! It's Raining, I'm Washing My Z.........BLLX To It.....:D
Phew... Just got in from washing and polishing mine! Took me half an hour of rummaging in the shed to find a plastic sheet to cover it over night as I`m currently half-way through re-building the garage so it`s a) big enough to actually get my Z in:D and b) it can be used as a workshop/make-shift spray booth!;) Knackered. Gonna have a cup of tea and watch Scrubs! :p Friday.

Last min final Billing count
