  1. Is it legal to display/use an old style black and white rear license plate in place of a standard yellow and black plate on a 1991 300zx? Just looking to rid the car of yellow.... lol. I seem to remember someone has an old style rear plate, but i may be wrong. Cheerz, Al.

  5. That sounds correct matey.. How do i do transfer the programs buddy... Al.
  6. Hi guyz, My son has loaded his laptop up with many programs/files, ranging from xbox things to school projects, and now running very slow, so i got him an external hard drive to transfer all the programs/files to, and speed the laptop up after a defrag and disc clean. The only thing is.... how do i transfer these programs/files to the hard drive to his laptop? I tried clicking on the shortcut on desktop and then selecting "send to" and sending to the external hard drive, but after connecting the E.H. it will not open/operate. Can anyone give me a puter illiterate guide on how to send these items to an E.H. and remove them from the laptop and still operate as normal when the E.H. is connected. Many thanks people..... :thumbup1: Al.
  7. Happy birthday Jim, 'ave a good un. Al.
  8. Rev the engine at 5k for 20 secs, 4k for 20 secs, 3k for 20 secs, 2k for 20 secs, then blip the throttle, if you get a puff of smoke it is bad news. Also,as jimmer said, let the revs come down naturally in 3rd from 5k to 2k (overrun), if you get smoke then it is bad. Al.
  9. Not with my set-up matey...... :online2long: Al.
  10. I have worked out roughly what i get..... 1/4 of a tank is approx £30, This gets me 130km. Easy math now.... Full tank = 520km for £120 = 325 miles. This is driving at a very sensible 70mph. Now give the ol' girl some beans, and the miles will be halved... :pinch: Al. :helpsmilie:
  11. I am sure Tony was doing 85-90 mate, and you did fly past. I think you need to look at your speedo cluster as Tony said. Al.
  12. Very true, but comp test is alot easier...... Al.
  13. Usually, when the dipstick is pushed out this is due to crankcase pressurisation (as u say), but this is normally due to worn piston rings, allowing oil into the sump, pressure in the sump=dipstick out. Al.
  14. Yes buddy, comp test each cylinder dry test then a wet test. I cannot remember the figure each cylinder should be, but when i comp tested mine, all was fine except 1 cylinder was low If you get an increase in wet to dry, then rings it is, as the little amount of oil will seal the gap in the worn ring. Nothing to worry about buddy.......... "Jimmer" is now your buddy....lol Hope it is nothing to worry about matey, Al.
  15. Go to approx 6000k in third gear and let the car run down naturally until 1500k, if you get plenty of smoke on "over run" (this is when the revs drop down naturally), then it will be your rings/pistons/stem seals. Rebuild time i'm afraid matey. Or could be as you say, some un-burn't oil residue. Al.
  16. 1, wozzer 2, madmarco (Yea baby!) 3, You know it makes sense, Croeso 4, IanL 5, Murt 6, Funkyboogalooo 7, Coopers-SWB (hopefully) 8, Yowser (depending on date) 9, Zogg 10, ZX-TT (aslong as my swb is ready) 11, black-zed (i'm only a possible depending on date/work commitments at time dates decided) 12, Dazvert 13, mikey bean ( if car finished ) (clutch might be slipping and warped flywheel) 14, bird 15, groover ( depending on dates) 16, robhughes7470 17, VicThaRealest ( depending on dates ) 18, Alanz ( depending on dates and cost)
  17. And totally agree with Tony, you flew past at a good pace buddy, very impressed. If you go to Tony's, let me know and i will come over too. Al.

  21. From the previous owner, if he is telling the truth and has paperwork to back it up. Other than that, get in there and see any makings on the tubs buddy..... Al.
  22. I think i need to take u out in my 300, just so u know what power is there, if u know what i mean.... Al.
  23. Aaron, if you think you are lacking in power i would try and have a look at the tubs, just to put your mind at rest, and they are t28's matey. As i said on the drive up to Zedworld, in my experience from dealing with qualified zed mechs, sometimes it is just better to get the facts ur self. I maybe barking up the wrong tree here......... lol Al.
  24. I think it was leo-r32gts matey.... http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=913# Al.
  25. Yes matey, just earth it to the phillips screw on the inner body of the headlight unit. You can just get to it using a stubby screwdriver. Al.
