Right, no hicas as it's an NA the fluid is fine and it's still golden colour. It had been groaning for a while then it started to stick on fast transition from either L to R or R to L. There was no bang or any other indication other than it stopped assisting and now there's no noise.

Whilst having a sedate drive around silverstone yesterday my power steering died, there had been this whiney-grinding noise coming from the steering for a while and now that noise has stopped but so has my ability to turn. There's no blown fuses so is there anything else I should check before I go and change the pump?

You'll still find there's a difference at night though
