HELP - I'm down a drain!
Sorry mate.. I realised that must be what you meant after posting. In a similar 'living at home' situation I had a GSX-R1100 when I was 18.

HELP - I'm down a drain!
I got it back! My work building maintenance man emptied out the drain and found it. I guess I owe him some beers. I was having a nightmare as the spare didn't work that well and I had two copies made which didn't work at all. It must be titanium of something as it's not magnetic. Many thanks for the advice gents.

how much is your speedo out
A CBR600 and GSX-R600 will do 155 true mph, max. Maybe less if they're older models. I guess a CBR600RR or if the GSX-R is the latest model, they might squeeze up to 160 but that's on a runway with a professional tester. Most people wuold struggle to top 150 genuine mph on the road on either.

My N/A Jap 1999 300ZX has no spoiler (and I'm sure it never had one). As soon as my camera is working / I get to the car in daylight I'm hoping to take some pics.

What paint?
Cool. Thanks guys. Halfords once mixed me up some paint for another car and it was a terrible match so I was hoping to get proper Nissan stuff. I'd prefer an aerosol if I can get it. I'll let you know how I get on. Cheers

What paint?
My car has a tiny patch of missing paint under the front spoiler. I got the paint code (LP2 G) and went to my local Nissan dealer  They said they'd never heard of it. Any idea where I can get some paint? I'd prefer proper Nissan stuff. It's a very dark metallic purple called Aubergine i think. Thanks again guys

What spark plugs
I've been told to get Uk spec spark plugs in my jap-NA 300. I went to my local Nissan dealer  and was quoted £84 for six plugs. I'm going to try a local motor store next. Is £84 way over the top? Also, what plugs should I get? I've been told NGK PFR6B11C Thanks gents

Locking wheel nuts?
I noticed my Z doesn't have locking wheel nuts. The alloys are only the standard 16 inch ones but I guess they might get nicked. Are regular locking wheel nuts from Halfords (or somewhere) ok, or do I need special ones?

HELP - I'm down a drain!
I lifted the grate (it had been tarmaced down but a pole levered it open). The water was about a foot deep and there was about two feet of rotting leaves below that. I poked the rotting leaves and loads of gas bubbled up. I stuck my hand in but couldn't bring myself to rummage through it all. I made a magnetic 'boom' with magnets from a motorbike tank bag which are f.strong. But that didn't fetch it out. So I think I'll leave it and get another of e-bay or somewhere. Thanks for the advice though!

HELP - I'm down a drain!
Nice one; thanks guys. I'm outa the drain now; it was about 5ft deep and full of stinking leaves and even with a loads of excellent magnets I couldn't get it. I'll forget it and try and get one from one of those places. I just couldn't believe my cnuting luck as it bounced off my shoe and went down!

HELP - I'm down a drain!
I was about to get in my car and I dropped the key, it landed on my foot and bounced down a drain. I've got the spare key so I can drive it but the key that went down was the nicely shaped '300ZX' one which I really liked. Does anyone know if you can get replacements like the nice '300zx' one? If so, I can stop fishing down the drain with a magnet on a piece of string. As Victor Meldrew would say.. "I don't believe it!" Anyone know if I can get a replacement 'nice' key?

Manual VS Auto
Aubergine coloured, auto, non-turbo is definitly the way to go! 'You gotta let the beautiful babies know you're money and looking to party.' (name that film quote!)

Where to stash roof panels ?
Is there a proper place to put the targa top blinds or the actual targa top panels themselves? I put mine behind the driver's seat but it doesn't seem the best solution. Cheers gents

Starting problem
It's been fine ever since. I think it was just flooded that one time. Thanks for the advice guys. Propper Bo!

Starting problem
I haven't had my Z long (N/A jap). Today it wouldn't start at first. After a while I got it going by turing it over and giving it some accelerator at the same time. Before it just fired up fine with no pedals needed. Is this anything to worry about? Cheers

How does my heater / air con work?
Excellent; thanks again. Yes, auto it had to be. The newest manual i could find was about £3k more and two years older.

What's this HID light upgrade thing then??
A mate had one on his motorbike (CBR1100XX). When he turned it on in gave a quick flicker like a flourescent tube kitchen light, then it came on super-strong, way better than any regular headlight. He broke it when he put the bike in a ditch and it cost about £700 I think. but it was good while it lasted.

How does my heater / air con work?

How does my heater / air con work?
I've only had the car about a week. I understand the heater except the 'auto' button. Also how can you tell if the air con is on or off? I guess it's off now cos it's cold but is there any way I can tell in summer or stop it soming on to preserve power / fuel? Cheers

What fuel?
it was about 10.5K. I guess that's a lot for a 300 but it's 1999, clean, low miles and standard. I think that's about the same as you'd pay for a 2 litre petrol C-class merc of the same age, so put like that it seems ok value.

How to use an auto box?
He's a bit special, this lad. Of t'ut shops.. backwards all the way.

What fuel?
I spoke to Jeff at Z-world. He thinks regular unleaded is fine in a N/A if it has UK plugs fitted. thanks again for the advice. Tim

How to use an auto box?
You're gonna think I'm stupid but... I bought an auto 300ZX and i don't know what the gear stick does. Park, Drive and Reverse I DO understand. What use are neutral, 1 and 2? Also, the 'hold' switch... what does that do? (I'm guessing the 'power' setting is to go fast but I dunno what 'hold' is for. Someone said snow or something...) Thanks again Tim
