i would say your first call would be to double check on the insurance quote as it may be wrong. your better off calling them direct. if you search the forum for (insurance) you will find a few specialist companies that most owners on here use. what it says in your post (1990-1994) is wrong to start with.

one thing i have found with odd ball nissans, and you may need to take into consideration is, they are a nightmare to get parts for & this one will be no exception.

im certain someone on here will have the parts you require.

it sounds like the rods come off. you will need to remove the door panel and trace the rod back from the inner door handle. you should then be able to see what the problem is.

PMSL. thats a shocking example. was that not a paper mashe job from blue peter.

a lot will depend on what you want to use it for. i have 2 gas ones which cost me around £60 each, but they do get a lot hotter than any corded ones, & the tips are £10 each. for home use and basic jobs, then as posted above, get a corded one. you may want to also consider a variable controlled one. this will allow you to change the temperature of the tip.

as shunter says. if both relays are in the fusebox then its easy. i will take a look on mine over the weekend and supply a diagram.

it can be done using a piece of wire & a diode linking the switched sides of the main/dip beam relays. the diode stops the feed running back down the wire so both dont stay on when on dip. it may take a while to find the correct 2 switched wires though. it would be easier doing it at the switch end at the dash. ideally you could do with finding out if they do run to relays.

the youngest who come with me is car mad so she was happy, not too sure about her mate though, but they was warned beforehand. at least they enjoyed their dinner at my expence :cool:
