The torque convertor isn't connected to the autobox, it just slide on the shaft so just remover the autobox then using a 14mm angled ring spanner remove the t/c from the fly then just slide it back on to the shaft of the autobox if you want to keep them together.

Yes, look down behind the rear of the plenum, you might just be able to see the pipes but its a tight squeeze behind there.

Sounds as though there's been a problem with the heater matrix in the past and its had a heater bypass. Its quite common on these cars, probably best to ask the previous owner if you can or see if you can see the pipes coming out of the bulkhead behind the engine, if there is nothing connected to them then the heater has been bypassed.

I just read an article about how the first issued photo licences are due to expire and it will cost each driver £17.50 for a new one or face a fine of £1000.
