My engine groans!
I have a few friends up in muswell hill. it's just round the A406 from me (I'm near Ilford). If you wanna test for goose honk drive the car at slow - normal speeds and watch the needle on the boost gauge. When this passes the 0 from - to + or + to -, you should get a goose honk, you can actually hold it at 0psi and honk for a while. The longest goose honk I managed to sustain was about 0.5 mile. You'll find that if you fit an induction, zorst or decat the goose honk area will increase i .e. rather than just passing 0 it will spread to -1 to +1psi.

Resetting the ECU
A dodgy O2 sensor will give you a lot of carbon build up, i.e. soot. If you have a twin zorst it may be worth cleaning the insides of the tail pipes and checking them ever few days. If you see a difference in the build up of soot between the two sides then you know the other O2 sensor is a little lazy and will need replacing soon. I have a section on my web site about replaceing the O2 sensors, it's not a big job, just a little tricky unless you have the right tools. http://www.300zx-mods.co.uk/O2.htm

Oil on drive!!
Got to have a pressure washer if you keep a Z :D. I bought mine especially for the job. Konrad, AndyP was talking about the Honda as in NSX, which posidrive mentioned he was getting after the Z dies.

I Hate Critical Updates!
Installed it last night. I wish I hadn't now. It doesn't take 30 seconds for me but you can notice a difference in speed. I too wanna get rid of this sheety patch.

My engine groans!
Where are you based mate ? I wouldn't mind having a listen to that.

Resetting the ECU
Leave the battery disconnected for an hour or so just to make sure, but bewarned you car will run likesheet for the first couple of hundred miles as the ECU has to relearn (as SRRAE says above). Did you have both O2 sensors replaced or just one ?

Engine Rebuild
I just sent one back appologising for the confusion. Didn't really know what to say, this guy heads up a small finance department, not sure what sort of a sense of humour he has

Is this the PTU? Or what?
Hi, Just want to say thank you very much for taking the time to do a search before asking a question. If only more people would do the same :D. Deffo sounds like the PTU to me, one of the most common problems on the 300zx. Not sure why it would have blown a hole in the zorst though  . How bad is the hole ?.

Engine Rebuild
BUSTED !!!!! LMAO , how much of a plum do I feel !!!!!. While I'm at work I use Microsoft outlook to type out my forum messages, I'm not with it today though ( a little tired), the worst thing is I actually sent that message to a Finance user who's response was.... --------- Stuart, Yes that's correct rather than the peak trade date it will be the maximum maturity date. I've checked this and it looks great. There's no rush with the restore option as we can get tech services to do this in the meantime. I didn't realise engine rebuilds were so expensive these days ! Can I also ask what a "Z" is ? Richard Anyone else having a really bad day ? :D

Engine Rebuild
I've fixed the date column, can I just confirm that you wanted this date to be the date of the maximum maturity amount shown in the report. i.e. the date of the highest total_exposure amount for that parent id in the current period). I'm still working on the additional restore option withint the GUI. I'll get back to you by COB today. Stuart Well for the price of some of the cars in comparrision to the parts these days, think about this... A rebuild is probably in the region of £2k - £3k. A second hand engine will cost in the region of about £2k all in. However it is 2nd hand and there's no telling how long it's gonna last you. You can break you Z if you have the space and get in the region of £2k if you sell 80% of the parts. You can import a new Z for about £5k - £6k. If my engine blew up, or I wrote the car off. I know I would get another Z and transfer all my current mods over to it.

Traction Control - Installation instructions
Just a quick note to say I have added a lot more detail on this section of my web site. Including all the wire colours on both pre & post '95 models (ABS sensors are slightly different colours). For those of you who bought TC in the group buy recently, this may prove to be very useful. If you think that something is missing or I need to detail something even more, please give me a shout, I'm always looking to improve the site to help others.
