A Nice Look to an Interior!
I would rather stick my helm to a frozen metal ski lift pole, rip it off and coat it with salt and vinegar that have to sit in the thing.

carbon fibre propshaft failure
I didn't think it was the clutch to be honest and did mention to Stewart that it may be propshaft related. I suppose on the upside it's a lot cheaper that replacing the clutch (labour and parts). So with the carbon prop, was it just a case that the bond has been ripped loose or was there a breakage of some sort ?. I never had any problems with it before but I guess running close to 600bhp now you're going to be putting much more stress on it, especially with the torque to match. The carbon prop is already balanced so if there were no breakages you shouldn't have to get it re-done. I guess you can tell once you start driving if there's any inbalance through the vibrations.

4 inch pipes
The benefit in pipe size comes from downpipes and back. i.e. no performance increase if you just change the back boxes. If you change all the exhaust for 4" from downpipes back then you will have much better airflow. However due to our dual exhausts 4" is a bit overkill and 3" will surfice for very high bhp z's.

Clutch Gone?
Hi mate, I have checked the Z1motorsports website as per the link I put in. As I mentioned I am waiting for Danny at DTA to get back to me, I left him a voice mail yesterday, but didn't expect him to be working on an easter weekend. Apart form sitting here for 2 hours scanning the net, we can but wait and hope he has the answer :(

Clutch Gone?
That should be at least 531bhp. it went off the dyno at 16psi but we mapped it on the road up to 19psi. So my guess is that it's pushing closer to 580-600bhp.

Clutch Gone?
Hi Stew, I'm still waiting to hear back from Dan as to exactly how much BHP that RPS Max was good for. I'm hoping that it wasn't anything to do with the clutch pedal adjustment. Thinking about it if you can still engage all gears, it may not be the clutch. Have you had a change to get under it and have a look. It may be something like the carbon prop. If this is the case then the clutch would still allow you to engage the gear but would not put any power out to the rear diff. Just for reference, this is the clutch you have on there at present http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?cPath=6_385&products_id=104

I finally did it!!!!
I hear you. I was "addicted" to a fair few over the last 10 years. RA2 online was my first major addiction. I was ranked 1st in England for many months in a row and was always in the top 15 in the world. Eve-online took over from that and this was a 3 year life draining experience, I went form flying round in a newbie ship to running a 5500 member alliance. Them came WOW. Got 2 characters to level 70 and was on there everynight for a few hours. It's only when I met my wife that I could see how much of my life I was wasting. I quit playing all online games a few days after we starting dating. It was not an influence form her as she didn't know I played at that time. It's amazing how much you can get done in the time you don't play. The closest I get to all that now is playing the Xbox now and again and imob on my iphone and to be honest that's only 10 mins a day.

whats this noise?
It's called compressor stall. It happened when the back presure is causing the compressor to slow down to a hault. Not good for the turbo's. Usually due to a boost leak somewhere along the line.

Oil Pressure
Hi Gubby, As mentioned on the phone, give Dan a PM and he should be able to give you a price on the Greddy Sandwich plate you need for the aftermarket gauge you have fitted. Danny DTA Stu

Clutch Pedal
Rather off topic there djpeterj :). I assume you were talking to me. In which case I'm affraid it's sold (or rather taken across Europe and given to my sister in-law.

How good are my breaks
You may want to think about rebuilding your caliper. You can get front rebuild kits for about 50 - 80 quid. This involves dismantling them, popping the pistons out, replacing the rings and rubber seals and putting them back together. Once you've done that, put a good set of pads on and replaced your brake fluid, you should get throw forward when you next brake heavily.

Jade Goody R.I.P.
I didn't like the woman form the day I first saw her on TV. But in the last few month I think she has been an outstanding example of a mother. She has shown tremendious courage in what was her last few weeks of life. She's done well to secure some money for her childrens future in the process. Like people above say, the media followed her last breaths in this world because she is well know. Telling a sad story about someone is not interesting to the majority, telling a sad story about someone who you know of makes you watch/read it more. Don't be jealous that she made money in her death. I do understand that people here have lost loved ones to cancer and the government took almost half the inheritence money. But this is the way it is, it's no different for Jades children, they'll get taxed on the inheritence as well. I'm sure she would have put the money into a trust fund for them but can not confirm it. If I'm totally honest I was expecting her to make a fully recovery, I was thinking for a while that it may have been a media stunt to rake in a little cash, but alas I was wrong. R.I.P. Jade - you done good!.

Car Porn
After reading some other forums (different car) it seems that they have a different view on what car porn is. I've come to the conclusion that I'm not a real enthusiast. I mean, if someone puts a post up and mentions car porn I take it as it's a nice car with stiripped off, restored to new or modified in a tasteful way. I look at it and think yeah the guys done a good job. I don't look at it and get tempted to bash one out. Are there really people out there that see cars and get sexually excited by them?. Surely that's not right !

Clutch Pedal
I can picture it now, Head and shoulders on the floor on the drivers foot well. Both feet on the floor outside the door and arching backwards to try and get a spanner and a pair of pliars on the adjustment bolt. Been there before. You can tell these cars were build by Japanese and not americans. Most of the jobs on the 300zx, even maintainence jobs require small women like hands to be able to get in parts that the normal hand can not reach. At least you've got the sun shining, great time to work on the car if any :D.

what sound will I get by installing aftermarket air filter?
Stick with a single Air filter system until you are running over 500bhp. Twins have no benefit until that sort of power and will only cause you problems.

the finished N/A subframe
You would think. Maybe it was so heavy, not only did he strain himself, he also shit himself too :D. Good job mate. I'm going to have to come see it at some point. Just so you can make me jealous that you;ve still got one :)

A nice end to 6.5 years of ownership
At the moment I should be coming along. But obviously now I don't have a Z, if something comes up at the last minute I'm going to have to give it a miss.
-
Thank you
No probs mate. V5 was sent off yesterday morning, I gave it a goodbye kiss before I sealed the envelope LOL !
-
A nice end to 6.5 years of ownership
Not sure about 500 at the rear wheels. I'd probably be more comfortable saying 450RWHP. But you never know... Gubby is checking his calendar to see if he can make the RR in Surrey so I guess we may see then.

Turbo options
As smithy mentioned about BHP, I would like to add that usually the higher BHP you go for the less drivable the car is unless you spend silly amount of money making the car more drivable with map sensors, light weight components and a full engine balance/blue print. To answer the question about how much I've spent getting where I was, you're looking at almost a brand new Nissan GTR. But if you forget about the body work, electronics, engine bling, ICE, interor retrim, wheels, brakes, suspension and just concentrate on the engine and performance you are looking somewhere in the region of £8-9k plus labour (unless you are gonna fit it all yourself) just for the engine and then a few grand more for the exhaust, propshaft, flywheel, clutch etc (i.e. engine performance outside the engine) In this price are: turbo's actuators downpipes manifolds injectors forged pistons rad oil cooler intercoolers twin induction electric fan Put it this way, The new owner of the car paid for the engine and got the rest of the car for free ;)
