Well it's all been said above, but my money is on the weak springs in the dumps values for you personally. For anyone who doesn't have dump valves then I would say it's an air leak somewhere. I doubt this would be a vaccum leak as any leak in the vaccum pipes would actually raise the rpm at idle.

Sounds like you're getting there mate. Can you smell anything from inside the car when it smokes ? What dump valves have you got n there ?. Are they maybe loosing pressure too quickly and making the car stool when at low revs ?.

The 300zx has dual horns. put it back how it was and change the fuse and you should be ok ;)

Have you got any pics mate ?. I can't imagine the hot air will be an issue. When driving the hot air will be moved back rather than up to the induction.

If one side was hot and one side was cold, then I would have thought you have an air lock, did you not try bleeding the rad first of all ?

Maybe next Yeah we'll have a few high powered ones ready. Not saying we will get in the top 10 but it will be nice to see people try
