Building a PC
Cases vary with quality and design. Cheap cases are normally flimsy affairs whcih are often badly built and have sharp edges etc. They will also be fronted with cheap plastic. Okay for alot of people if were honest but they dont look very nice. Often cases will come with power units as well sometimes these are fine for the job, sometimes these are as cheap as the case. Depends what the total price is and of course the spec of the powerunit. Sizing also plays a bit part in cost perhaps classed as "midi atx" which is okay for most machines. If you see full atx, or full tower, its more designed for a serious machine or server these will tend to be expensive. (The difference being a midi atx wont take a full atx mainboard, very few about of these so its unlikely to be an issue!) The other end of the scale is microatx and other such tiny cases, they do require expensive smaller components and often you severly limit the upgrade potential and also the performance of the machine. A good case can be a good investment I have a Lian Li PC-70 which is an old case now, cost £150 or so a few years ago but its contained 3 machines in its time, as hardware has moved on the case has stayed the same

Dmming lights
Ahh cool cool! That'd make my 95 model have it then. Very cool!
-
Dmming lights
Lol, yeah its something I very much like but im sure my old one didnt do it so tahts very weird!
-
Ride/Bumper Height
doh! Lol will have to give it a try. 'er in doors isnt fond of the 99 either so will have to do some more investigation!
-
Dmming lights
When I lock my car the interior light stays on and then dimms to off. No issue with this but im SURE my old one didnt do it. Infact its somethnig that all my bmw's have always done but im sure my old zed didnt do it... Is it something to do with this model year(95)? Or it was broken on my old one? or its something to do with this particular car? Not complaining but just wondering if anyone else has the same thing?

Ride/Bumper Height
Lol, yeah thats what I intend to do, its just a proper odd driveway I have. Sadly is on an increasing gradient so the road is level at one side and has perhaps dropped a foot by the other side of the entrance so you end up with an odd situation for the car to cover. My dads 745 screams from the pdc on the front and rear as it leaves the drive lol
-
Ride/Bumper Height
Haha £6k ;) Its not too much of an issue, I can easily fabricate some device to get it in and out of the drive. I think i prefer the 89 bumper if im honest! :s
-
Ride/Bumper Height
Quick question, which extends lower down? the 99 Spec bumper or the 89 spec bumper? Due to the awkward nature of my drive my new car just touches as its being brought into the drive. My old one did with its 89 spec bumper but I wasnt so bothered about that! My question is if I were to revert back to an 89 spec bumper would it solve the issue, or would it make it worse?

banger for commuting.
Anything diesel for economy! Your old man speaks alot of sence, a tiny engine is fine in town but for a reasonable commute it'll be screaming. Also if your doing long commutes, get up 5 mins earlier and drive at 65 instead of 85, makes a massive difference to economy. I used to get nearly 40mpg out of a 2.0 petrol laguna, which according to the book would only do 33. I also had a xsara hdi after the laguna died, that did about 60-61mpg. Cracking thing for economy, rubbish in every other way but what do you expect. Basically, if you want a petrol get the most modern thing you can. If its a diesel you want it doesnt matter so much, just make sure it runs okay. Older diesels not as economical as newer ones, BUT they are more reliablle. Old 306 1.9d has about 4 moving parts, it just simply cant go wrong! Although im a huge BMW fan, i woudlnt buy an e36 as an economical car, those old 4 pot bmw engines werent much cop "back in the day" many moons have passed since then and they havnt got better with age. THey are old engines, all 8 valves unless its an 318is/ti, not a bad motor but again hardly top of its game. Also very heavy cars (even the compact!) the more weight to pull round the more juice it uses.

Any Advice ?????

May make inteteresting reading for some of you, changes to the zed throughout 6 years
I think that list actually applies to USDM cars, not saying it doesnt apply to us but that is taken from wikipedia i think. Bear in mind as well as I found out, my old grey 300zx on a K plate, so 92 apparently, but it was an 89 car LOL.

My 2 quid car
Lol Well thats true sportsmanship! To be fair im f'in jealous! Looks a lovely car actually. If I didnt listen to 'er in doors as much i'd have a collection of 300zx's, one for every day of the week and one for each track! Pipe dreams!

3 intro questions. ECU chipping, Recirc hose diameters, heater blower power
I think I'm correct in saying that for the one piece setup though its worth checking the gearbox and diff mounts as if they are saggy the two piece with a UJ in the middle does provide alot more compensation for badly alligned components. Where of course a one piece does not! One piece is much better though, lighter and of course no stupid centre bearing! Just check your mounts first, will stop transmission shunt and all sorts of knocks and clunks from them! Same with engine mounts as well. (Remember these cars like your s13 you have/had are 20 years old in some cases, and nearly there in others!)

My 2 quid car
You can go off people you know ;) Lucky git! Sounds a cracking car, I cant believe you had the heart to take it from him for £2.... not even £2 and a twix or something?

Bought this today :)
Looks a monster! Just had a look through my big book of zed and it would appear that the facelift did NOT have a bonnet scoop on the turbo model! Possibly due to the different turbo used on the facelift? Not sure. Stunning thing though, and stunning price. Something that surely can only go up in value being so rare these days. Especially a facelift manual turbo!

Bought this today :)
Ah! I had noticed it was a facelift... I shall delv into my books of wisdom... Unless its had a new bonnet at somepoint, how come it needs a new windscreen?

How Many built?
I've been having a look around to see if I can find any production figures for each model and year. So far I've found this link: http://www.300zx.cl/ga/300zx/images/serial%20number%20Datsun%20Z%20Car.htm Which im not sure if this just covers america (since it ends in 96) or if its sales figures, or production for all cars or just LHD or RHD etc. So does anyone have any better figures? Ive got Brian Longs book which states how many in total for each year but not at what percentage was for each model.
