I should've stuck to my idea of cutting out a bit of diffuser off a light - cos thats all these look like. Sawing them off the holder sounds a pain and then (as I just took my old ones out to see) you will have to build the holder up with something as Jaffa said, these aren't as thick as the red reflectors.

Mine was a little wobbly and if IIRC it was a nut come loose in the runner attached to the floor. A bit fiddley to get to but no real problem.
