Might have a put a deposit down on a new car...!
Good choice, you will enjoy it, get yourself on m5board if not already its a great source of info. That's not a bad insurance quote either mines just under £500 this year but I'm an old git.

I know but still trying to find these
lovetyres.com have good prices for Goodyear eagle F1 A2's, I picked up a set for the M5 for not much more than 452s, I had 452s on previously and these are miles ahead especially in the wet, been a long time fan of the 452s but would never go back after trying these.

anyone find were getting rarer?
I had mine for sale for 3 weeks, got contacted by 3 people in that time and sold it for £1800 which was £200 less than asking price, ok it was an auto but had loads of new parts and pretty good condition. So even at the lower end of the market interest is very thin.

Gloss or Satin??
I went with satin, just preferred the look to gloss.

10 Years of owning a Z today!!
My10 year anniversary would have been next month sold it last week, have to echo the sentiment about the forum though, it's a great place for help and support, yes these cars do need a lot of support hehe, such a massive wealth of knowledge with a friendly atmosphere, some forums are very hostile, we all have different opinions of mods and styling etc but some other forums are just plain rude. This forum has had it's ups and downs but I still keep browsing on a daily basis. I may one day in the future return to zed ownership but it will definitely be SWB next time around.

Time for a change?
7-8k is a good price range, sub 5k are dogs, 9k plus are ambitious, mines just clocked 151k miles full BMWSH, it was a directors car originally and has very little wear and tear, back seats are pretty much the day they left the factory, I specifically went with one that had a good unworn interior and didn't mind a few stone chips here and there as it's much easier to fix paint than source good condition interior panels. At this age it's always good to go on condtion, I looked at much lower mileage ones sub 100k that looked a lot worse for wear. Around town it will do 300 miles per tank 20mpg, commute to work which is mainly A roads and a few urban areas 320-350 22ish mpg, motorway run at 80mph 420 miles per tank appx 27 mpg. Mine is showing signs of a suspension refresh now, creaky suspension, wobble under hard braking etc, it will need new shocks, lower arms, and a few other suspension bits and bobs. At this age they probably all do and it won't be cheap, but I think it's well worth it.

Time for a change?
I got an e39 M5 18 months ago and don't regret, yes it can be expensive to run parts are pricey but it is an epic car, fast, comfortable stacks of toys etc, I kept the zed in the mean time as a weekend car but sold it last week, replaced it with a e36 m3 convertible for the weekend toy. Do I miss my zed? I do and I don't, had it 10 years and had some great times with it, but just had the urge for a change and always loved the e36 and fancied a proper ragtop this time. Just buy the best example M5 you can afford, the sub 3k ebay cheapies are wrecks and riddled with expensive faults from what I've seen.

red z
Might have been me mate, where abouts was it.

help needed buying a BMW E39 530D
Does he definitely do the mileage to warrant a diesel variant, the petrol variety is much more refined and a whole heap less complex to fix, the minimal fuel savings could be wiped out with a potentially big bill that diesels can throw up.

Heated seats???
My car gets so damp the seat had actually frozen, was just thinking the same.

Red kitted Z newark
Could well have been orange, was dark though.

Red kitted Z newark
Guy was an absolute tool, driving 3 inches off bumper in the pouring rain.

Red kitted Z newark
Had a tailgate tub, dodgy rear spoiler and a shite kit and round LED rear lights. Cheers for nearly wiping my front end out when you decided to floor it on the roundabout and go side ways totally out of control in the wet :cursing::cursing: Do yourself a favour and stick to FWD.

Best remap for 530 Msport
I think 290bhp is also a typo, you'd be looking at around 25bhp max on a 530i remap.

Brake Shoes Same as skyline?
They may just need adjusting, I think there's a hand brake tech on the forum somewhere. Found it http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=150598

how to fix the cigarette lighter?
I had a similar problem where the light would only output if wiggled when charging a phone etc. I decided to investigate. I was getting 12v constant from the cable plugged into it so knew it wasn't a supply problem. I then moved onto the lighter socket itself, after taking it apart I worked out that it should move slightly when something is inserted into it and then make a ground and give you power, this wasn't happening, so I wedged a small piece of metal between the housing and hey presto it now works like a charm.

The only zed I saw down the strip today, looking good

looking 4 some advice!!
These cars are generally very reliable but can consume large amounts of cash to keep them in good shape due to their age. Main points are Weak cooling system due to age, water pump hoses and heater matrix can fail. Suspension is fairly complex and there are a lot of bushes than can fail and cause poor ride. Rust can be a problem on the rear sills and arches also check battery tray and under front wings. Brake lines at the rear can corrode along with the petrol tank. Auto gear boxes aren't the best if not well cared for. There are lots of electrical senors, lambda, crank angle sensor, throttle position sensor, knock sensor, water temp sensors that can fail, along with brittle wiring due to heat cycles under the bottom as temps to get hot under the bonnet. Power steering system is prone to leaks also. These are the basics that I would check to see if they have been replaced with in the last few years if not you can quite easily spend £2k upwards just getting it in good shape.

Silver slicky mansfield
Nice looking zed in the Talbot pub car park

Which gearbox type do you have ?
Has anyone ever converted a manual to an auto?

Don't you just hate arrogant ebay sellers....
Do people type in caps and spell badly on purpose, the amount of listings I see like this with massive caps in random colours is baffling. Is our education system so piss poor these days?

my Scientific experiment ( noob question)
I did this on my 89 import but the limit remained, I think there is a way around it by changing the cruise control ecu or something like that.

Gearbox trouble
How does that valve body matrix thing work, is it a maze of passages for the fluid to flow, looks highly complex?
