Hiya, With the car being a CAT D write off you would need to tell the insurance company when you come to insure the car, as alot of insurance companies will not cover CAT D write offs. Thanks Dan

insurance question
Right - two horrors!! Depending on who the insurers are and how fussy they are about paying out, we find that in cases of mechanical failure they will often only cover the resultant damage and not the part that has caused the failure. They are unlikely to pay out more than once for damage caused by one faulty part as most policy wordings do state that the client is responsible for maintainig the vehicle to a roadworthy standard and if they already know that there was a fault with it they probably wont entertain another claim for the same fault. It would be advisable to get an expert's opinion on what the fault with the handbrake is, they would be able to establish if it is related to the accident or something which has occurred since. If it can be proven that it is accident related then the repairing garage from the claim may rectify it, however they may advise that it is nothing to do with the incident in which case it would be up to the client to deal with. hope that helps!! insurance problem
When an insurance company pay out for paintwork, they do so purely to repair the damaged area. It would be very unlikely that they would pay for an entire respray of the vehicle unless it was all damaged. If this is the case it would be expected for the policyholder to make a contribution to the repairs as an entire respray would improve the standard of the vehicle to better than it was prior to the incident. this is classed as betterment which the insurers do not allow, as it technically means you are gaining from insurance which is illegal. hope this helps. stoopid insurance companies
On most of our schemes the insurers who cover Import version insurer UK ones at the same sort of rates. The main problem is that on all Jap imports there are less insurers covering them compared to the UK equivalents so it's simply a case of there's more completion out there for UK models, thus leading to lower premium. With regards to the cost of parts, yes there will be some more popular models where repair costs etc are the same or very similar but this wouldn't always be the case. Hope this helps, Dan.
